View Full Version : Sox record without Quentin?

My Spankee-loving "friend" insists I'm totally biased and making pathetic excuses because I refused to acknowledge that the Sox simply lost to a flat-out superior team from the AL East. He said "just thank your little stars you weren't playing the Yankees today." Right... like the Spanks have given anyone reason to fear them in October lately.

Anyway, that was all said in response to my message:
Everyone knew the Sox had some matchups that would be difficult to overcome today, and that's how it played out. Among those matchups:

* Tampa is 57-24 at home. Chicago is 35-46 on the road (53-28 at home).
* Tampa is 62-30 on turf. Chicago is 4-16 on turf (84-58 on grass).
* James Shields (RHP) is 14-8 with a 3.56 ERA, Vazquez (RHP) is 12-16 4.67.
* Tampa is 72-41 vs. RHP, Chicago is 57-54 (31-20 vs LHP).
* Tampa plays better with Carl Crawford, Chicago plays worse without Quentin and Crede.

The one matchup that did favor us was our 32-20 record during day games vs. Tampa's 26-21 record. Marginal advantage there.

Anyway, does anyone know how I can find out what the Sox record is with AL MVP Candidate Carlos Quentin in the lineup vs. without him in the lineup? Same for Crede, if possible.

That's after Sept 1st, I didn't include games he sat out during the season, nor todays loss.
