View Full Version : Thoughts came tumblin' back

Watching Johnny D. work through the Twins lineup last night brought back memories of me witnessing the Sox in postseason action for the first time (albeit on a TV screen in NY), with Dewey Hoyt and Britt Burns putting up zeroes on the scoreboard against the Birds.

Of course, last night's ending was certainly more favorable.

Hard to believe it was 25 years ago this week.

Gaah! I just had a vision of Tito Freaking Landrum.

Happy thoughts... happy thoughts....

I was at that game. My wife and my mother and I had standing-room tickets and watched the whole game from the scoreboard ramp just to the LF side of the boad. Britt Burns pitched the game of his life, and then Tito F. Landrum (who?) hits a homer in the 10th.

You coulda heard a pin drop in the old park.

Tito Landrum! I'll say it again: :gah:

I was at a Phillies game about a month ago and went to see Luzinski at his stand. I told him that Tito Landrum broke my heart 25 years ago this summer, and asked what it did to him. He just shook his head and muttered "Yeah, extra innings." It still breaks my heart to think about that game.
