View Full Version : Don't Forget To Wear Black To Today's Game!!

For those who are attending, the White Sox have asked that ALL fans in attendance wear black to today's game. They will also be handing out black towels for fans to wave during the game.

That will be so awesome to see the entire ballpark wearing black and waving black towels. It will be electric......sure wish I could be there!! Also, I think it would be intimidating and distracting to the Twinkies for the entire ballpark to be unified like that. What do you think?

So don't forget to rock the black!!

I came to work in a blue crewneck today. A woman here who is a Sox fan reminded me of blackout.

I went to my bag and pulled out an all black Nike polo.

I'm wearing my black WS05 Pierzynski Jersey right now, and I took a trip to the grocery store in it. You gotta love the looks that the people at the store were giving to me.

I'm torn, do I wear that or my old black hat?

Go with the hat that they're undefeated in but make everything else black. (Shirt and/or jersey, jeans, shoes.)

I've got two black shirts on here at work along with my black suit pants. Do I match? Don't really care.

Tonight I've got my black Sox hat, black Sox shirt, black Sox jacket, and for the first time in 15 years, I'll be wearing some fancy black sweatpants in public. Can't wait!

I'm still wearing the Konerko jersey; but, I'll be wearing a black toque, my black Sox Pride t-shirt underneath my jersey, and my black Under Armour pants. I'll bring a black hoodie just in case it gets too cold for me, I will be sitting in right field.

CRAZY IDEA to follow. Giving how the White Sox asked its fans to wear all black for the "Black out" tonight what if the White Sox actually introduce a new uniform for tonight, well maybe just new black pants.

This is not unheard of for teams to introduce new unis for special games, the White Sox were the first to wear special uni for the WS in 1917.

Read here http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/080701 Go down to #9.

In fact the Giants switched to an all black uni on two different occasions for the WS.

Now am I really suggesting we do this... probably not. But it would be kind of cool. And our franchise is known for its uniform uniqueness.

Got my black shorts, black shirt, black socks ready for the trip to the bar tonight. Its going to be wild in there. No one cares about baseball much here, but patrons tend to love close win-or-go-home games down here.

I remember last year's COL/SD game was wild at the local watering hole- and no one down here is from either state.

I'll be turning the place into a Sox bar before the 1st inning ends.

I am wearing my special "Clinching Shirt" today. It is a black polo, which I wore every time the Sox had a chance to clinch in 2005 (Central Division Sept. 29, ALDS game 3, ALCS game 5, and WS game 4), and they never once let me down.

Not that I'm superstitious or anything...

If this works, perhaps they will extend the idea into the postseason. My modified take on the idea:

Distribute to everyone a special reversible jacket that is black on one side and white on the other. When we bat, the fans wear the black side. When the opponent bats, the fans wear the white side. This has the added benefit of looking even more coordinated and unified, makes it more difficult for them to hit and easier for our Sox to hit, and would be quite the collectable item for the fans who show up to these playoffs.

This wouldn't benefit us much if at all. If anything, having the entire stadium wear white while the visitors are batting would be more of a pain in the ass for the defense to try to follow the ball when in put in play.

I think if they win tonight, they need to push the stadium as baseball's new "Black Hole" for the postseason.

The "Blackout" would be cool, too, althought it's not a noun.

Blackout is a noun. For example, "There were rolling blackouts all over California today."
