that we get rid of Javy before '09. He has just been getting slammed and continues to prove that he can't win the big game. It has really pained me to watch his last few starts. It seems like he doesn't even care anymore. There's a serious problem if you can't get up for pennant race baseball. Javy (and for that matter most of the team) has looked like they have been going through the motions since the start of the Yankee series. Am I the only one feeling like I am watching the '07 version of our club rather than one standing on the front door of the playoffs. Hopefully the offense gives Mark some run support tomorrow and we can finally win a game.

From MLB.com Press Release 03.06.07

The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a three-year, $34.5-million contract extension with right-handed pitcher Javier Vazquez. Vazquez still will receive a salary of $12.50 million in 2007 as called for in the final year of the four-year contract he signed with the Yankees in 2004. Under terms of the extension, he will be paid $11.50 million each year from 2008-10.

Do you seriously think anyone is gonna suck up that salary?

For a sub 4.50 ERA in a pitchers park who had a 3.75 last year? Absolutlely. Teams would be thrilled if Javy were made available cheaply. His salary is VERY affordable for a guy who pitches to those numbers.

I hope the Sox don't let Javy go - we'd have to go out and find 2 SP, not just 1.

Not unless we [could somehow] deal him for a starting pitcher!

If Kenny wants to unload him, yes, somebody will take the bait. This
contract is considered to be affordable especially when you compare
it to the ones that have been handed out the past 2 years. That plus
the "innings eater" that Javy is,somebody will fall for him.

He is very affordable to most big market teams as a 4th or 5th starter. Unfortunately he was the Sox #2 and maybe even #1 at the start of this year.

My father and I sat were at the Yankees v Sox series last week and we were sitting by some Yankees season ticket holders that were spot on with their analysis of Javy. Essentially he tries to throw too many different pitches, and goes deep in counts time and time again whic lulls defense to sleep.
