Dear White Sox,
For four seasons now (and many growing up), I awaited your arrival in the spring like a child anticipates Christmas morning. During the gloomy days of winter, my spring training countdown kept me moving forward, knowing that sunshine and baseball were coming. I speculated with the best, not sure about trades or acquisitions, but had confidence that you knew what was best for our future.
I planned lavish breakfasts for your homecoming, woke up numerous times during the night too excited to sleep knowing that I would see you again after several months apart. While spring rolled into summer, I kept up with you. Either watching from afar or sitting close by, studying your every move. You've always been my favorite. I can count on you 6 days out of the week, whereas, football only comes calling on weekends (and some random Thursdays.)
You've impressed me this year. Despite your obvious flaws, you've made up for most of them in some old ways, and also some new. I have come to count on you, and up until a week ago, was hoping that I could count on you until October. But now that road seems shaky. So am I asking you, as a beloved fan, to step it up tonight. Have the confidence that I do. Believe the way that I do. Pull through this.
Love Always,
Melissa
