Did they change the format of the first round? I thought the first round was best of 5.

Incorrect, what you DID believe was everyone that posted on WSI knew even one iota about baseball.

mlb.com shows all the alds as 5 game series i thought i read somewhere that the team with the best record can choose what day to start and if they want a 7 game series though

The don't decide the length of their series (what league allows to team to decide how many games they play?). They decide whether they want to play in the series that starts Wednesday or the series that starts Thursday. They have to declare within 1 hour of "clinching" best record.

I pretty much agree with your break-down, except for the first rounds being best-of-sevens. It would also give me the least number of ulcers.

This could be one of the stupidest threads I have ever read at WSI. Or maybe I cannot see the invisible teal.

If anything, this should be in Talking Baseball. What's sad is that we still have a week to go and we're already predicting the playoff picture.

In my bracket, the Sox beat the Mets in the first round, lose in the second round to the Angels but rally and win the WS against the CUbs!

What is this? Are you people delusional? Do you watch the material that is thrown in front of you or do you just enjoy living life with illusions of greatness?

You took the words out of my mouth.

We don't even know the playoff format or the amount of games per round here.

Unreal.

I like the White Sox out of the East Bracket... my sleepers are IUPUI and Tulsa.

If the sox make the playoffs they lose 3-1 to the rays. I hope it doesn't happen but the only team that could take out the rays imo is the angels.

If the Rays make it out of the first round, I think they will win the World Series.

very true. If the sox have one more scorching run left in them where everything is in sync the sox win the world series. You can't just have a run though, because any team can do that. The sox just need to win the series so as long as they play one game over .500 baseball in the playoffs they will win. Really a simple thing but all the white sox need to do to win the world series is go 3 games over at worst. To make it to the world series 2 games over, and to make it to the ALCS just 1 game over. Not difficult at all!

well this is the format I got from a poster on a different Sox message boardThat's why you should stay away from other Sox message boards. You get only good information from WSI (if you give it enough time for the bad information to be corrected!)

I am hoping that once all the pressure of the division race is over they relax and get hotter than hell like what they did after they clinched in 2005. /crossfingers
