AP said, Jeter's hit off Floyd was his 1270th. White Sox third baseman Juan Uribe playing on the edge of the infield grass, tried to backhand the sharp grounder in the first but it went under his glove.
There were camera flashes with every pitch thrown to Jeter.
May explain why Uribe just missed it, IMO

Congrats to Jeter!

I brought this up in the game thread after watching the highlight on Gameday.

My conclusion was that the Yankees announcers are living in the past.

Or are just genuinely clueless to teams west of the Hudson.

Or are just genuinely clueless to teams west of the Hudson.Because, of course, they simply don't matter.

Maybe due to years of seeing Jeter play shortstop, he has no idea how to judge a players defensive ability.

Yeah, he's not use to aggressive play from infielders. He's use to them reacting way late, then making a fake little stumble move like they were ABOUT to get to the ball, but they just missed it.

Honest mistake.

Juan went 3-3 last night and he's hitting near .260. They musta glanced at the stats and said "not bad". When Juan gets hot, he is a good hitter. Too bad he's rarely hot.

Yankees TV isn't all that bad when you try listening to Ma and Pa Kettle on WCBS Radio. Sterling and Waldman get along as well as Hawk and the Windsock.
