MIN@BAL, TB@NYY, ATL@NYM, STL@PIT and TOR@BOS are all currently rain delayed, possibly to be joined by DET@CHW shortly. Has anyone ever seen so many rain delays at once??

What's the chance MLB pushes everything back a day to compensate for this? That would benefit the Sox greatly.

Plus Mil/Phi and Cubs/Houston were postponed. Unreal.

I don't know. With tomorrow being Saturday, we may have a chance to see a whole lot of double headers.

That's what will happen when you have a storm stretching from the east coast all the way back to nearly Colorado.

I've seen a lot of games postposned in April years past. I think 1982 was an especially bad year. I'm sure I've seen all the baseball from at least one league wiped out by weather, but I can't remember when that was.

I wasn't around for the founding of the American League, but I have read that the reason the Sox and Indians (at that time there was just the White Sox) were the only teams to play on April 25, 1901, was that all the other games were rained out. Of course, there were only eight teams in the league, and they didn't even have interleague play in October.

Unfortunately, we might see a bunch of split doubleheaders instead of true doubleheaders...unless the windows for getting some games in is pretty tight.

Sox/Tigers looks like day/night on Sunday, with Danks starting tomorrow, and Vazquez/Broadway starting Sunday.

Sox have a day/night on Sunday.

Is that official or just logical speculation? No word on White Sox.com about make-up plans.

It's been raining all night in Boston, but not hard enough to call the game. It's the bottom of the 5th with Boston winning, so it is official. What I really don't understand either is why not get in as many innings as possible; if you can't finish the game at least you might only have to go 14, instead of 18.

And the stupid umps that called tonight's game do realize that Sunday is supposed to be terrible because of Ike.

The Red Sox TV guys are borrrringgg as hell, I thought they used to be a good crew, but man, even when the game was close, a ton of dead air, and not a lot of enthusiasm

Agreed. The most entertaining part was the bullpen band, but that was early on in the game.

The Twins Orioles games are pretty much both night games. 5:05est start for the first. If that game goes three hours the next game wont start till close to nine.

They are going to be tired come tom. with a 1:05est start

So I can watch a Baltimore game by the time the west coast games start. Glorious. Too bad the O's aren't worth a damn lol.

Lincecum is pitching tonight so at least I'll be watching that.

20 GAMES TODAY! :o:

20 games scheduled, who knows if they get them in. Surprisingly, 20 is not a record (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080913&content_id=3466160&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb).

ESPN's MLB Scoreboard has doubleheaders scheduled today for both Boston and Cleveland. Both these teams got their games in yesterday, I'm guessing this is a mistake? Are they also expecting bad weather tomorrow? Even though, I wouldn't think they'd call tomorrow yet (?)...maybe just an ESPN mistake

They are playing makeup games from rainouts earlier in the season. Just a coincidence.

No mistake. Boston's day-night DH makes up a previous rainout. I assume the same for Cleveland.

Actually they do have DH listed on MLB.com also, so it's not a mistake, are these from earlier in the year? Or are they calling tomorrow early?
