Source? I know he wouldnt get a ton of playing time with a pennant race going on, but I like what ive seen from him so far.

No mention on the Sox site (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/index.jsp?c_id=cws) yet.

What are our options for another middle infielder for insurance/flexibility? Pablo Ozuna is available but that would require a 40 man roster move.

Didn't he have a wrist problem last year that kept him out the first part/half of the year?

I might be able to shed some light on this.

I was at the Charlotte game on August 31st when he got hit by a pitch, he was in a lot of pain and left the game for a pinch runner. We left in the 5th inning and on the way out Chris was outside the stadium in his uniform with an enormous "cloth cast with a tube" he was on the phone in tears. I gave him a pat on the back and said see you in Chicago next year, he just shook his head.

I wanted to post something earlier but had no proof.

I hope the best for the kid, he really seems like the hard nosed grinder that we could use going forward.

Well if someone does need a day off, they can always bounce Uribe and put Fields at 3rd at least temporarily. Would that mean Fields would be allowed on the playoff team due to Getz going to the DL?

Now it makes sense, this is why they brought up Jason Bourgeois.

For the love of all things good, no more "hard-nosed grinder-ing" as a quality to load the roster with!

I think that's extreme. So long as they are talented hard nose grinders, I have no problem - see: Qunetin, Carlos, Piersynzki, AJ and Buehrle, Mark as examples.

Should've known something was up when he wasn't getting into games. Oh well. Hope to see you next year, Chris.

Hopefully, Getz is able to come back strong next season. I could see him in a utility role with the Sox in 2009.

That's a tough break for Getz. I don't think he would have seen much action other than pinch running in the stretch here, but he may have been able to spell someone in a blowout or if needed in an extra inning game.

I hope he comes back fully healthy and ready to try to make the team next spring.
