According to Sporting News online today the Tigers will have Freddy on Monday pitch off mound then be evaluated for a start next weekend against the White Sox. This would be his first start of the 2008 season.

How will the Sox welcome this 2005 Series hero?????

5 minor league innings, and he's ready to start? Bring him on.

He gets a standing ovation from me for being an absolute workhorse while he was here.

I don't see a reason for him to be booed.

By not letting him out of the first inning.

What I find odd about the possibility of Garcia starting against the Sox is that the Tigers were the team everyone was talking about at the beginning of the season, the team some were still talking about making a run at the All-Star break. there were some of us that dismissed the Tigers (such as me) because thehitting was overrated and the pitching was weak. And here they are out of the race, starting a veteran pitcher that no one wanted.

The same way we welcome Big Frank. We cheer. However, since he is a pitcher, when do we cheer? It's not like Big Frank where he comes to the Plate for his at-bat and we cheer. It's not like his name will be announced on the PA except when the lineup is given.

He will be crushed, I don't think he should be allowed back against teams such as the sox who are in the hunt... ehh works better for us I guess.

It's not happening. Verlander, Rogers, and Miner set to face our Sox. (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080906&content_id=3428328&vkey=news_det&fext=.jsp&c_id=det&partnerId=rss_det)

Food for thought: in 05 he was better on the road for us than at the Cell, so now for the Tigers he'll be "on the road AT the Cell"... will be interesting to see how that pans out!

edit: well I guess it's a moot point, based on the post immediately above mine.

i'm glad he is not starting. If I recall the Sox overall record against Freddy was not very good. Something tells me that he would shut our line up down. Just one of those feelings.

Aw, too bad he's not starting. If he did, Konerko, Thome, and Dye would have stolen bases. :D:

But all kidding aside, he was HUGE in 2005, no doubt about it. He would, or at least should, be welcomed back with a nice ovation.

Of those three names, Miner scares me the most for some reason. We've hit Verlander and Rogers at home this year but Miner seems to give us fits for some reason.

I agree. The guy cried when KW told him he traded him. He was a monster for us who just burned out. Absolutely nothing but good memories for Freddy.

I'd applaud him... Then I'd love to see him get shelled.

When was Nate Robertson taken out of the rotation?

I miss him and his weird glasses.

Agreed...I think of him much like Olivo, Rowand, etc. I loved him when he was here - but I hope we beat him like a drum as an opponent.

He's pitching Tuesday against Oakland.
