...will the Cubs get 100 wins this season? After their win today they are 85-50. With 27 games remaining they have to finish out 15-12. They have not had 100 wins since 1935. At this point their chances seem good to very good.

It will be fun to watch them get swept in the NLDS though!

Who cares what they do in the regular season, show me what they do when it counts....

What's the score?

Back in 1969 the high flyin cubbies lost 18 games in September.

Right now the way the season is going, I would not be surprised if they did. Although I want the White Sox to win it all again, if we aren't able to make it to the world series, I won't be all too upset if the Cubs win it all. Even though I hate the Cubs, one of my closest friends is a Cubs fan and so is my mom, I'd like for them to experience what I experienced in 05 for once in their lifetimes.

They have 21 road games in September to finish out the year. I'm not sure if they can go 15-12 with most of their games on the road. It doesn't really matter, regular-season records don't mean anything if you don't do anything in the postseason.

Wishful thinking. But any team can get hot or cold at the wrong time.

Better question is what do you do with your user name when Krod hits 58?

They definitely don't suck, but I sure as hell hope that they crash and burn in the postseason.

They are a really good team. Good chance they win 100 games. What happens after that is what matters.

Cubs are clearly the class of NL.

Whatever chance of them imploding & being passed by Milwakee & St. Louis went out of the window when they acquired Harden, Gauden during their most vulnerable time of the year (back in June when they couldn't buy a win on the Road).

Plus, injuries to Mulder, Carpenter, Wainright just killed the Cardinals in the longer term. They may still finish with 90 wins, but making up a double-digit deficit with less than 30 to go would be a tall task for ANY team in the history of the game, let alone one that is as flawed as St. Louis....

As for the title question..... In October, (just about) anything is possible. Especially when you are throwing Harden-Dempster-Zambrano at people, plus the explosive offense & underrated bullpen.

It would be *something* if much-disrespected White Sox team ended up winning the World Series this year, while the Cubs choked in NLDS under a century-worth of pressure..... It wouldn't be safe to walk Chicago streets for Sox fans for a while

The higher they fly the harder they will fall. I wonder who/what will be to blame this year? Goat? Gatorade? Bartman?

Probably. They've got a tough month ahead, though.

But they don't suck...

...sorry, couldn't teal the thread title. I figured my deep rooted displeasure of the North side ball club was understood.

As a baseball fan, I can't help but notice they have been rocking out this whole year.

I wholeheartedly agree that none of it means squat if you don't win in the playoffs.

Hell, the '06 Cardinals/Tigers series proves it!

Maybe I will go with KRod "58". **** him. He is a douchebag and Thiggy will always have a soft spot in my heart.

I've mentioned this in a different message board. The Cubs have 16 road games left in September, and they will face the Cards, Mets, and Brewers (twice), all of whom are fighting for a playoff spot. I say the Cubs end up just short of 100 wins.

But here's to them ending the season going 0-27

I want them to fail miserably because I love seen grown men cry over something as stupid as their team losing.

The never-ending Cubbie love in every Chicago media outlet is out of hand. Thank God I have XM and don't have to listen to Chicago radio when I'm in the car.
