Seriously, Dice-BB should be easy for MLB to figure out. Don't swing until you have at least one strike on you. Make Dice-BB throw strikes. Odds are, he'll walk you once he falls down in the count.

Yeah, but the day you are happy in advance about a Sox game or something their opponent might do to help the Sox the sun will rise in the west...

I'm actually pumped up for this series. This is why we play the games. Pennant race, WC rival on the road. It's time to put up or shut up. **** Boston. We can beat them all we need to do is hit the baseball.

And we will have to hit a ton with Big Game Javy going tonight.

Hopefully Guillen or Walker drills this into Alexei's head. He's been swinging at bad first pitches lately, usually popping them up.

Great, I'm not alone in this. Boston doesn't scare me at all now that Manny is gone.

Anybody who is scared should just quit now. It's going to be a great but very tense ride.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if Vazquez throws a quality start tonight. He usually doesn't do well against good teams especially on the road.

I feel good about Saturday and Sunday, so if they win tonight a sweep isn't out of the question.

So, he is taking the Juan Uribe approach?

That would mean Uribe actually puts bat to ball.

Take pitches and have Javy get ahead in the count with this team. 3 guys that need to watch out for Pedroia, Papi, and Youkilis everyone else is feeble. Take them down, Javy! 7-3 victory!!!

I agree with both parts here. Javy is a big key to the weekend, but I don't have a lot of confidence in him going in. He's not Big Game Javy. Big Game and Javy usually don't mix well. I hope he surprises me. He's capable, but it's all in his head.

I noted this in another thread. His patience needs to improve. Not only to draw more walks, but more importantly to actually wait for good pitches to hit. Who knows how his batting average would be if he would actually swing at good pitches.

Let those other people decide, I think it's a waste of a post to post a picture of some dumbass, just look at it and if you don't like it, don't post.

That said, I think the sox can handle Dice K tonight. Any way you slice it, Javy needs to step up.

Not good, IMO.

So what are you going to do about it? Pitch someone else? Ask the Red Sox to skip Dice K?

I mean seriosly. What's the point of even debating whehter or not this is "good" or "not good?" We have to play the game anyway. We might as well go out and compete.

I thought Denks vs. Liz was "good." I though Richard vs. King Felix was "not good." Favorable matches in baseball mean something, but it still comes down to who executes better and which pitcher has the better stuff on that given day.

Dice K is not that different than Ryan Dempster. Patient, mostly all-field line-drive hitters will get him.

But he knows how to exploit a hitter's anxiety & greed with the best of them, so beware.

Anyway. Sox did well in Fenway for a few years (early-mid 2000s) with less talent than they have now. 2 out of 3 isn't out of the question. Depending on which Vazquez shows up, of course.

Let's all hope Javy doesn't explode like he did against the Rays. He's been pitching great lately. Hopefully, he doesn't pitch like a ***** today. His key to success is to go straight at the hitters.

3-2, 3.00 era, .97 whip, 33 ks to 8 walks in August for Javy. Yup this is no contest, chalk up a loss.

Especially if we fall down by more than 2 after the third inning. Game over.

I just hope we see a different offense than the 3-hit effort we saw on Wednesday. Putting TCQ back in the lineup should have a slight effect.

I can do better. If the Red Sox score first in the first inning, then game over.

I'd love to have a real statement series, just blow them out, like 2000 @NYY and @ Cle
