What you gonna say about this White Sox team? Think they're hitting they're stride now? I know... I know... it's only Seattle, Oakland and KC, but I'll take the wins. What an offensive explosion. When Thome, PK and Swisher all hit, this team plays pretty well...

Meanwhile in Minnesota...

Sox...love the whole taking Washburn to the cleaners deal tonite. He had been pitching fairly well but maybe Kenny was right that he is not a good fit for SoxPark..

Alexei has 50 rbis..same as AJ..in about 2.5 months.
I love when JD is going oppo like yesterdays homer and todays double to the wall. Its purty.
Carlos makes Soxpark look like that little field up above in left field.
OC comes thru with one big homer..at the time. I am glad that hawk clarified that it was Alexei's fault in the first inning.
JD with the rejection of tobys cream pie tonite!!!
MB kept us in it when he was not helped in the first. I would have been so pissed I would have lost it right there but he is a pro and a good teammate and Alexei made up for it later.

Buehrle was bad, but luckily the offense brought their bats today. I understand that Alexei/Cabrera made a bid gaffe, but there were two outs and Mark let in three runs after that. At least he settled down and saved the bullpen a little. Hopefully the offense can keep this going. Buehrle sucked, and they bailed him out today. They owe the pitching a lot more of that considering the pitching kept them in the race in the first half.

All in all, everyone goes home happy tonight.

Great win! Sox did what they have to do at this point - beat a last place team at home. I'm glad that OC's mental error in the 1st that cost us 3 runs is long forgotten.

Also, gotta love anytime Minnesota loses at home.

I was sketchy after we put all the runs on yesterday of what we would do today, but I was impressed with the offense. Hopefully the onslaught continues tomorrow, but I know we'll need the pitching to step up to help take the burden off our offense and have both firing on both cylinders going into the playoffs.

I love when JD is going oppo like yesterdays homer and todays double to the wall. Purty.

Against good pitching in big games, it's not only purty but almost essential to do that.

One of the reasons Dye mini-slumped recently is because he became too pull-happy.

When he, Quentin and even Thome stay inside the pitch on the outer half of the plate and stay level enough through it, they're very dangerous run producers.

(But they can be gotten out consistently by good pitching when they start pullevating everything middle-away.)

Kerry Sayers just said that Toby's shoulder is fine. Comcast made sure to check on him because they were concerned after the post game show. He said every once in a while he tweaks it, but it is fine.

Understand that living in Tampa, Lakeland, Brandon or North Tampa and going to a Rays game in St. Pete is like living in Chicago and driving to Joliet to watch the White Sox.

The Rays will never draw a consistent large crowd playing in the Trop in St. Pete. I'm sure they will do well if they make the playoffs, but the dome is horrible.

The only way for the franchise to survive in SW Florida is to build an Arizona/Houston/Milwaukee-like retractable roof ballpark and stick it on the Florida State Fairgrounds off of I4. They would be drawing 40K/game with the way the team is playing now.

Just got back from the game. Loud crowd. Especially during the 6 run explosion. I had a perfect side view angle on some of the HRs tonight. That Quentin HR JUUUUUST cleared the fence. One less strip of bacon on his breakfast and that is caught on the track. Cabrera's HR looked like a sure pop out and just kept on sailing in that wind. After the Sox left the field and high fived, the "F" on the out of town scoreboard popped up next to the OAK 3 MIN 2 and the crowd cheered. (I do love pennant races) Fun night at the park.

The wave tends to show up on 1/2 price nights and fireworks nights though. I've just accepted it.

I remember the first few months of the season when the offense could barely score runs. It was really frustrating. Days like this help make up for that. The Sox finally seem to realize that they're in a pennant race and that every game counts.

Just got back from the game, my god is the blue line awful. First time I have taken the train this year and I waited at Jackson for a good half hour.

Good to win a game by 8 when you give up 11 hits. Good to hit WashedupandBurnedout. Buehrle deserved a win when he was not at his best. Solid outing from DJ and although they were hitting Horacio hard, he kept them off the board.

I have yet to see the OC replay, but watching it live off the bat, that looked like a lazy fly ball and it just carried into the bullpen.

Funny how the last three winning postgame threads will not total the opening loss to Oakland thread.

Chicks dig the long ball and wow that Carlos Quentin guy, I would pay the price of admission just to see him take four at bats.

I wonder now how the Twins feel if they did the right thing in claiming Washburn to block the Sox. If Washburn were on the Sox, the Mariners might have had a better shot at winning tonight.

It is interesting that the Sox faced four straight left-handed strarters and they beat three of them. The Sox should have won all four games. But for the bullpen failures of Friday night, they would have beaten all four. In April, the Sox faced four straight southpaw starters and won three of four, losing only to Greg Smith, the the Sox beat Saturday. The Sox match up much better against left-starters than many fans believe. The fact is, the Sox are 11 games above .500 in 41 decisions against southpaws.

Obviously, tonight's win was a great win. The Mariners have been getting poor pitching on a night when the Twins lost a close game at home at home -- not unlike the Twins beating the Mariners on Friday night when the Sox suffered a tough loss to the A's.

Winning Tuesday probably won't be as easy, and the A's continue to struggle. Regardless of what the Twins do, the Sox doesn't appear to have a big margin of error this season.

Regardless of what the Twins do, the Sox doesn't appear to have a big margin of error this season. .

And what team does? The Angels? Cubs?

After the magical 1st half in 2005 Sox appeared to have a big margin for error.... and almost paid the price for it by almost getting caught by the Tribe.

...which, in turn, was one of the best things that could have happened to the Sox as it battle-tested the team for the October cluster****.

Fun one to be at last night. Our seats were decent in 116, bought during the Sox Pride presale back in February. In the 7th some guys were leaving and handed our 8-year-old sitting on the aisle their four stubs.

"Want to sit in the front row, buddy?" Absolutely made their night, especially seeing TCQ go deep from field level. Nice move, fellow Sox fans!
