The NY Post is reporting that Melky Cabrera is being sent to AAA and Richie Sexon is being waived. 2AAA players called-up.

their trying to do anything they can to spark their offense and with the recall of Brett Gardner, they are hoping he sets a spark and plays a solid CF. I Just can't see them getting passing Boston or Tampa with their pitching.

I'd like to see KW buy low on him this winter, if possible. Between him and BA, I think we'd be able to move Swish to 1B permanently. We could then dump Thome or PK and be faster, younger, and cheaper.

Cause removing Melky and Sexson is really waiving the white flag...

It takes two to tango.

Considering the recent crying coming from Ft. Steinbrenner (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3532121), I'd say the Yankees know they are toast.

:whiteflag:

Good ****ing riddance.

Why would we want him? He has had his opportunity's with New York and hasn't made the most of them. I'm all for moving Swisher to first base next year and trading Konerko;and then obtaining a real center fielder; preferbally a lead off hitter.

I'd take Melky Cabrera in a heartbeat for any/all reasons listed in this thread.

It will be nice to see the Yankees watching post-season baseball on TV for a change :bandance:

They were watching after the ALDS most of the time anyhow.

Um, Melky Cabrera is not good.

He has good tools (speed, arm, fielding ability). He's just not a very good hitter...

He's probably a better hitter than BA though.

Once upon a time there were 3 things constant in life: death, taxes and the Yankees and/or Braves going to the playoffs.

Wouldn't say they are necessarily throwing in the towel, just trying to see if other players can be more productive than the ones they've got. Throwing in the towel would be dealing Mussina, Giambi, and Abreu to contending teams.

IIRC the last time neither the Braves nor the Yankees were in the playoffs was 1990. :o:

I was hoping they'd pull through, their the rotation that's most appealing to me as an opponent, and it'd be nice to knock them out of the playoffs for the last series in the Stadium

Really doesn't matter if they are throwing in the towel or not, they have zero pitching other than Mussina. They are not going anywhere, thank god!
