I saw on another Sox website that Clayton was called back up, but this person didn't mention who he was going to replace..

I'm thinking it's probably Wise

Can any one else confirm this story

makes sense, we need bullpen help and Wise hardly will get any time. I really like him but with the Griffey trade, no playing time

Did the person on this other site provide a link or source? If not, don't waste your time thinking about it.

This thread is moved to What's The Score since it is in the rumor stage and something tells me it will remain that way for a while.

Yes. He was demoted August 4 and started 1 game, August 8th against the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Pitched well, would have won had the Knights' bullpen not imploded.

Well if it's true, I suspect that it will be revealed that Wise mysteriously injured himself and will be placed on the DL and then re-activated after the September 1 roster expansion. Wise would need to clear waivers before being sent to the minors and the Sox likely don't want to risk losing him. On the other hand, Jerry Owens could take over as designated pich runner after September 1 so maybe we really have seen the last of DeWayne (cue the DeWayne Wise Appreciation Thread).

If you're going to do that, cut Wise and bring up Owens now that way he is eligible for the post season. Griffey should be getting the starts that Wise gets against RHP anyway. Agree with the decision or not, Owens was always the plan unless I am missing something. Now he is healthy and he is hitting well, might as well bring him up and see if he can help the team down the stretch run.

Dewayne Wise > Jerry Owens

They signed him a couple months ago to a minor league deal IIRC.

Only if his flukish season holds up. I'm not a huge Owens fan, just think the team rates him as a possible regular starter. He was going to start in CF this year before the injury.

Holy ****, Jason Tyner is in our system? Why the hell aren't I notified about these things!?[/shatner]

According to Wikipedia, he was DFA'd by Cleveland a week or so before the trading deadline and he signed a minor league contract with the Sox.

I'd feel much more comfortable playing the hot hand rather than just forking it over to Owens.

Not anymore...but maybe 4th/5th OF material.

So... where is Richard? He's not on the active roster for the Knights or White Sox.

That's probaly the case, the Sox's Active roster on whitesox.com only has 24 players.
