What if Contreras cannot pitch next year due to injury, as some of the Chicago baseball writers have speculated?

What is normal practice for teams? Would the Sox have insurance to pay for the salary they owe Contreras if he could not play due to a medical condition? Or would they be stuck with his $10-million salary?

If he can't pitch and they are stuck paying his salary, that would be a tremendous liability.
