View Full Version : 3rd Uniform Idea

I was watching Baseball Tonight and noticed that both the Astros and Mets have both pinstripe and solid piping home field uniforms. I guess I never realized it until now.

I always thought the current Silver/Black White Sox uniform would look great with the side piping vs. pinstripes. Realizing that the Mets and Astros utilize both styles, I think it would be great for the SOX as well.

I know we have great uniforms and I know the majority of us don't want to change them, however what about this second alternative for home games?

I like our uniforms as is.The only change I would like to see is the sleeve patch that appears on the road grey and black alternative jersey be added to the home white jersey. That's it though, otherwise they're perfect!

We have the best unis in MLB, why are some of you always looking to change them.
Ive been a Sox fan since the early 50s and Ive seen way too many uniform changes. Leave well enough alone.

I think the Bears should change their uniforms.......

Agree - but the content of them to players who will be healthy past 2 plays at practice.

Back to the Sox uni's - stay as is, but I also am a fan of the sock patch on the road uni's - add that to the home jerseys.

What ever happened to the sleeveless home uni's?

I can't remember seeing those for some time, if at all this year.

They could always add a patch with the U.S. Cellular Field logo to the home whites.............that would look good.

I suspect they don't want to (or can't, don't know if there's a rule about it) put a coporate name or logo on their sleeve. I've always assumed that's why they didn't replace the old "Comiskey Park" patch when they renamed the ballpark.

I agree, even with the color clash (though, they could always just have a Grayscale patch), something that looks like this would be great on one of the sleeves of the jersey.

And no one called me?

We need to bring those back. Maybe they can bring back a little killer instinct.

I still wish we would add another accent color to the background of the logo. Maybe the green that is so prominent in the stadium now.

Remember that one year in there when they had the mock vests? White jerseys with black, attached sleeves, made to look like a vest.

I could go for a home white Tigers-type Sox jersey ... no pinstripes ... as an alternate. I also think the black jerseys look bad with the pinstripe pants ... rather have all white pants with a black and silver stripe ... like the away grey pants.

That's the look I was originally referencing. Similar to the Tigers and like the 1969 SOX uniforms but Black/Silver instread of Blue.

I like the idea of all white pants with the black side piping on the pants to match up with the Black Sox alternate jersey for home games.

The only addition I want to see to the current uniforms is a 2008 World Champs patch on the sleeve!:bandance:

Our primary home and roads are, along with NYY, my favorite uniforms in baseball. I'm not a fan of the black jersey but can live with it.

http://www.mascweb.com/masc/images/fox.gifTruth be told, I wouldn't mind seeing the front jersey number of the current uniform set migrate over to the right sleeve, but keep the rest of the look intact.

We need to bring those back. Maybe they can bring back a little killer instinct. They were what the Sox were wearing when they lost their only game in the 2005 postseason.

Therefore, they are an abomination.

Seriously, I never liked the vests.

At the same time, we dominated in the playoffs minus that one game with those jerseys. By far my favorite ones. I'm sad they got rid of them.

the only change I would ever make to the current classic version with
silver/black logo, would be to add RED to the Sox Script, circa 1959...

Thank you. And no more black at all. The balck vests are an abomination but the current black, esp. combined with the road gray pants are damn ugly as well.

I think the road grays are very clean and classy looking. I would not mind seeing a variation on the '59 homes though.

GREAT idea. Can we plant this seed in Brooks' ear? It's a simple, colorful, and fairly elegant touch.

Fully understand that, Nellie. It's just he's the only guy from the Sox that (I know of) responds to fan input and communication.

The road greys might be my favorite uniform in baseball.

I like alternate jerseys in general -- Royals powder blues (shoulda went to a full 85 recreation thouhg) and Royal blues are sharp ... but I do not like our black ones. The double trim around the logo, numbers and letters is overkill IMO and makes certain letters look crowded and the overall jersey too busy.

I hate Colorado's black vests -- that stripe on the shoulder looks inappropriate and almost feminine to me.

I'd love to see this type of uniform as well.
And I love the fact that the Sox have had so many uniform changes over the years. I just wish they'd utilize more of them on "turn back the clock" days. I'd love to see the late '60s uni, the red pinstripes, the late70's/early 80's collared jerseys, and the late 80's uniforms trotted out again.

I like the black jerseys. :?: I'd like to see a Tiger-like home uni (solid, no pinstripes) just to see how it looks. The Astros have a solid white and it looks much better than their pinstriped ones. I like teams with a lot of uni combos; I like walking into the park and checkin out what the teams are decked out in for that particular game. Last night was Royals gray vs. Sox black. Tonight can be Royals blue vs. Sox whites. Changes things up a bit.
