With the BoSox coming in for 4 games I sure hope our guys remember the humiliation we endured last year in our own ballpark. Its payback time.
Took a long time for me to live down that series with a lot of my BoSox cronies down here in SW Florida.

IIRC we got swept and outscored something like 40-5 in either 3 or 4 games. We were outmatched from the start

How about reminding them we swept them out of the playoffs in 05 when they were the defending champs.

I was at one of the games lat year, it was the 1st game of the Friday double header.....granted it was a last minute change because the night before got rained out, but I swear there must have been 800 people there and 600 were Red Sox fans. Outside of not having to wait in lines anywhere in the park, it was the most embarrasing time for me as a Sox fan in years, especially hearing the Red Sox fans ask me "How did you get so bad, so fast?"...and they spanked us that day.

It's truly a miracle the Sox finished with 72 wins last year with the team we had. It should also be noted that this was "bad" Thornton, "bad" Logan, and a hobbled Dye in '07. I have a feeling we'll have a much better showing this year. Ryan Bukvich...(shudders...)

Reading this thread brings back some BAD 2007 White Sox nightmares. I agree that we should fare better against the Red Sox this year. I think it is important for the Sox to stay focused on tonight's game against the Tigers, get a win and then take that energy into the weekend series against the BoSox. I hope Ken Griffey Jr. will be able to play and that our pitching can hold off that potent BoSox offense. Wonder what "El Duque" is doing this weekend?

Lastly, I will say that I dislike 4 game series, especially the ones with the Monday wrap-a-round game.

Go White Sox!

I know Boston travels well, but it was embarrassing to hear their fans pretty much take control over our stadium. Not too hard to do when you're losing games in double figures, though...

That shouldn't happen this time, and the Sox fans should be a little bit more vocal this time around.

Wasn't there a few years stretch (early-mid-2000s?) when White Sox played suprisingly well in the snake-pit that is Fenway Park.... all the while totally giving it up to the Carmines at the Cell?

I seem to remember whatever playoffs hopes Sox had in 2004 were crushed on that disasterous homestand by Carlos Guillen & Manny Ramirez. (Although steroid-user Matt Lawton's 3-run blast off then-very good Shingo to dead straight-away CF at the Cell was pretty demoralizing too.)

These are different Soxes, however. It really could go either way depending which Buerhle and Contreras show up.

Oh, but, injuries are part of the game, even though you're dealing with more injuries than any other team in baseball by a wide margin.

I highly doubt we'll be having as many Red Sox "fans" there this weekend. All of the Red Cubs fans will be at Wrigley. Thank you, Cardinals, for being in town!

Yeah but they're once again the defending champs, and that was 3 years ago. Let's just sweep them now and then if we have to again in the playoffs, do it in 2008 and and not remind them about 2005. I'm sure they're pretty happy with their 2 world series rings in 4 years.

Oh brother

Injuries ARE part of the game. That's why team depth/bench and robust farm system are so important.

(Unless you somehow believe that baseball gods had conspired with Bud Selig & Tribune. Co., by way of Super-string Theory, to sabotage the White Sox and ruin your personal dreams...:))

Yeah but they're once again the defending champs, and that was 3 years ago. .

To be fair, one of the breaks we caught in 2005, I thought, was we faced broken down Clement and super-aged Boomer. Even Wakefield was, what, in his 50s back then? Our hitters saw plenty of mistakes all series-long.

The team that won World Series in 2004 did it on the backs of Pedro-Lowe-Shilling, none of whom we thankfully saw.

And in 2007, it was all about the Beckett-Shilling-Matsuzaka show. We'll see how our team matches up this weekend.

Sometimes.

Part of being young & being a fan is getting too high during good times... and pissed when things don't go your way. :bandance:
