The Windy City Lunch Bunch meeting this month will be held this Friday, August 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It will feature White Sox centerfielder Brian Anderson and likely another player TBA (watch this space).

The luncheon will be held at the Old Eagle Banquet Room of the Polo Cafe, 3322 S. Morgan (1 mile west of U.S. Cellular Field). The agenda includes an autograph session with the player(s) (Windy City Sox Fans reserves the right to limit the number of autographs), a buffet luncheon, and an interview conducted by our emcee, Chris Rongey of The Score, and audience members.

Prices:

Members - $35.00
Non-members - $45.00
Kids 10 and under - $25.00

All proceeds benefit Chicago Baseball Cancer Charities and Children's Memorial Hospital. Windy City Sox Fans is a 501(c)(3) corporation. A portion of your donation is tax deductible.

Guests (as we saw last month) are subject to change without notice. I'll keep you posted here.

Not sure what you guys mean, but I saw Anderson speak at a previous WCSF luncheon, and everyone behaved themselves.

Food's good, too.

Right now only God knows who the other player will be, and he's not telling. The Sox are telling us they'll notify us who it is after the team comes back home.

This may sound funny, but I know some people are hoping Joey Cora makes an appearance at one of these luncheons. For some reason, he's a really tough autograph and many people need him on their 2005 team ball, bat, picture, etc.

Just added: Relief pitcher Ehren Wassermann has been added to our guest list by the Sox.

Cora did a luncheon with Harold Baines last year.

Oh, and for the FOBA, a challenge: Put your money where your mouths (or fingers) are. The money goes to charity! :D:

I see its Wassermann for the other player. I've heard a few people who have met him, and the word is he is a great guy. Truly loves the game, like a kid getting the shot of a lifetime.

It was a good time. The first question they were asked was "what is up with AJ's hair????"

Anderson said that Thome bet AJ $1,000 that he (AJ) would not do it. AJ could not resist.

Why yes, Russ, there was a particular Dotel inquiry made to one Brian Anderson.

Without going into details (it's dinnertime here), he said it's true, it happened only once, he did it to shut Dotel up, and how did we find out about it?
