There might be a pitcher or two, to offer a minor league deal to, for our ChiSox

Yasuhiko Yabuta from KC (apparently, we went after him before the season started)

Royce Ring from ATL (we had him before...Why not?)

Livan Hernandez from MN (long relief?)

could be a possibility but i'm way more interested in seeing what Rodriguez and maybe even link can do if they get called up

I haven't seen Yabuta or Ring pitch in awhile. I just saw Hernandez pitch Wednesday night, and there is no way in hell I would sign him after seeing the weak stuff he is featuring right now.

We've got enough young pitchers with potential in the minors if we call up anyone new. I'd rather go that route than a former major leaguer who sucked. And even on a minor league deal, I still don't like it. If you look at the actual prospects we have in the upper minors, most of them are pitchers and doing anything to take innings away from them is counterproductive.

I don't know, but Richard isn't cutting it.

Another freaking 5 run inning.

Have you been paying attention to our pitchers the last month? He wouldn't make us any worse, that's for damn sure.

Hernandez has nothing left. There has to be something better out there than those guys, isn't there?

His fastball looks a little slower, but from the video, looks like the slider is still there and he's added a pretty good change

Yes, he would. He's done. Check his numbers. The league is hitting .340 against him.

Just for comparison purposes, what's the league hitting against Boone Logan?

OK, fair enough. That's why I asked.

Logan has been terrible lately, but he actually had a pretty solid first half. Hopefully, he gets back on track. People tend to think the grass is greener on the other side. However, players end up on the DFA list for a reason.

If Livan Hernandez couldn't help the Twins, what would make anyone believe he could help the Sox?

Actually, he was helping the Sox the entire time he was on the Twins roster, by pitching poorly for our biggest rival.

What do they hit against him in his wins (which he has a ton of)? He still pitches well. He's just terrible when he's bad. Whereas our starters are simply bad every time out.

Sign him up. We're desperate.

Threads like this one make me long for the days of irresponsible, pre-deadline Uribe+Contreras-for-Sabathia rumors.

MLBTR put up a list of possible guys that can go in the AL due to contracts. Lots of our guys on there.
