Much better job this time around Javy. Now if we can get Contreras firing on all barrels; we'll be set.

Jenks with a very nice 1-2-3 ninth.

This has to be the first game in a a couple weeks the bullpen did not allow a run. When that happens, it sure makes things a lot easier.

Knock on wood, Griffey could not take another swing the rest of the year and this trade already paid off enough for what little we gave up.

KC is bad team and we should pounce on these guys for 3.

No excuses here boys. You have to take all 3.

Get them tomorrow.

I hope Paulie packed some nice gym shoes or call Royce Clayton. He will not need his cleats this series.

Get the lead and hold on with steady starting pitching.
Hold on with effective relief work, and defensive replacements late in the game. A Sox formula for victory.

Great game all-around. Ozzie pulled Javy before things got out of hand and Carrasco got some help. Great game by Uribe, who I'm starting to like again. And most of all, great game by Ken Griffey Jr. I can't believe I just typed that. It still hasn't sunk in that he's on our team.

Perhaps they're making a sundae inside that catcher's glove that Toby Hall wore on his head tonight.
4-4 on this road trip so far...it is still salvagable.
If they can win the remaining two games, than this will be a very good road trip, making up for the extra loss they got in Minnesota, since the goal was to try to win two games in each city. It's possible, and I'm extremely confident tomorrow in Buehrle.

Just about the perfect debut for Junior. 2 two out rbi singles,a walk, a run, and no balls hit to him in center. If it was a normal nite, that drive would have gone out and then we are talking hollywood script material.
1 down. 54 games to go. Junior has no errors so far.

WTG Jr. :superman: Wow!! I have to say I'm impressed with Jr's debut with the Sox. More importantly, Javy, Dotel and Jenks were able to hold KC to just two runs. Now, let's get the sweep and hope that Cleveland can win a couple of games in the baggydome.

It took 30 posts to bring up Uribe? The guy was Joe Crede out there today. BTW, OC pissed JD off again by trying to take 3rd. Not smart.

This is the first time Griffey has been in an important race in a decade. Tonight's 2 for 3 night shows me that he is going to do everything he can to make the playoffs. Javy pitched well tonight and faces the Tigers and the Royals his next two starts. Hopefully this brings him back to his groove.

That was a rare low stress win, except for the bottom of the sixth. It was nice of Junior to lead by example and remind the Sox what two out RBIs actually look like. I was very glad to see him hit the road running.

:) Big effort by Vazquez, saving D by Uribe. OC still needs to get his head out of his ass, not that I'm not glad we have him.

Let's get 'em again tomorrow.

Nice win...

Welcome to Chicago, Jr. We are sorely in need of that clutch bat...

Oh and not only did Uribe have a great night in the field, he also has quietly raised his BA to ~.230 for the season. Is he worth $3.5M or whatever as the backup infielder in 2009?

The Sox scored all four of their runs with two outs tonight. Always a good sign. The lineup has been bogging down at the No. 6 and No. 7 spots in the order recently. With Ramirez moving up and the addition of Griffey, hopefully that will not be the case any longer.

Vazquez looked pretty good. The Sox need to get him on a roll. Jenks was very strong tonight, which should calm the pants-pissers who were "concerned" after he gave up two runs in an 8-1 game the other night. Dotel was also good, bouncing back from a horrific outing last evening.

Nice game by Uribe. Play him at 3B until Crede returns.

He's versatile - and plays good D. He's well liked in the clubhouse. And he is a decent player.

That being said, I like Juany, and I like Cintron. To bad for Alex that he's playing in Baltimore.:?:

It is august and now a sprint to the finish.
Tribe has no-hitter thru five and twin never start hitting til then and gomez gets a bloop two out rbi hit and then Mauer..always Mauer . It is gonna be a long 54 games. 2/3rds thru the season. August heat looming. Vet team vs Young team that plays half their games in air-conditioning. Go Sox.

Nice game for Griffey at the plate and Uribe in the field (and at the plate).

I like the way Ozzie pinch ran for him with BA after his eighth inning walk. I hope this is going to be the norm--kind of the way Tanner used to pull Dick Allen out of most games after his fourth AB.
