View Full Version : Fields Pulled Out...

I assumed that this would go to "What's the Score"...Pure hyperbole, and speculation...Is it possible the Sox pulled a deal? Why take Fields out in the 7th inning, when he's had a nice productive game? Deal to follow?

Uribe is better at 3rd. They've done this a few times already.

Nothing to see here.

I agree, we need outs now, not offense.

I hope so...But, you would think that they would want to showcase him further, when he is having a good night.

So the "future at third base for YOUR Chicago White Sox" is competant enough at his position that we're pulling him in the 7th inning of a game against the team we're leading by half a game in the division?

I can't help but shed a single tear for our future if we'd rather have Uribe on the field in the clutch than "the future."

Probably about how he had been traded.

If Fields is "our future" then the Sox are in trouble.

Yeah, "fine" sure depicts what I want from our future "stud" player.

To hell with the future. We're trying to win now, and Uribe is a better defender at 3B than Fields. That is the reality of the situation.

True, yet Uribe IS a better defender at 3rd, which only proves that Fields is not a savior as most here believe.

Five years from now I don't see Fields as a starting 3B for a major league team. Maybe 1B or DH? I wouldn't be afraid to trade him, pending Crede's back.

The White Sox have several positions in which the best defender sits on the bench or plays out of position.
Nobody said Fields is a savior. But he has potential, v the ****ty veteran. I don't care who plays but trashing young players I really don't get. And trashing them for.....Juan Uribe.
Yikes.

I'm not trashing Fields, and you may not be calling him a savior but plenty have. I WOULD LOVE for Fields to become a beast of a player with the Sox. Why in the world would I WANT him to fail?

I just dont buy the hype. That's it.

Fields is already a more advanced hitter than Crede was when he was 2 years into the league. Give him time, and he will be ok at 3rd. He will never have the Crede instinct to make the amazing play, but Crede is one of maybe 5 3b who have that kind of glove (with Longoria Wright Rolen Lowell and Chavez).

The reason I believe in Fields working it out is most scouts believe his footwork has to improve. Given his background as a QB, where he was great, its a very footwork oriented position. It is something that takes time, but that will put him in a better spot. His hands will soften over time, and honestly, I have a feeling next year when he knows if its him or Crede, he will relax a bit.

Fields is still pretty raw, especially as a defender.
