No not for this season. But I wonder if the Sox have the pieces to possibly get him in the offseason. Financially speaking we should be ok with planning a long term deal when arbitration is finished.

Uggla's a nice player, but I don't know if we need another masher in the line-up. I'd much prefer to try and look for more of a defensive/lead-off hitting second baseman.

I guess maybe what I was trying to say is would you rather have Fields or Uggla in a future line-up? I truly think Fields as the main piece of a package could land Uggla.

There is one position that the Sox have depth at both at the MLB level and in the minors, it is second base, and you want to spend money on another second baseman?

Would much rather see a quick CF who can hit.

How about a first baseman who can hit? :)

No
We have plenty of 2nd basemen.

I think that if we are going trade Fields to the Marlins (especially before the deadline) we would be looking for something like Scott Olsen and Kevin Gregg.

Fields will be important if Crede leaves and we don't go after someone else for 3B. I'd like to see a speedy, leadoff CF, Konerko moves to DH, and Swisher to 1st.

I would rather have an Orlando Hudson type guy at 2nd. Uggla is a nice player, but when you already have a bunch of mashers but little team speed, I rather have a good OBP guy that can run and play good D at 2B.

Between the rosters in Chicago and Charlotte, we should be the envy of the other 29 MLB teams for our middle infield talent.

Let's concentrate on the corner infield and CF for next year.

Depth ≠ Quality

If Dan Uggla came to the White Sox, he would never have to worry about being embarrassed at another All-Star Game.

Let's fix this team's major problem (slowish mashers) by acquiring another one!

Only a problem when they aren't hitting. When they are, nobody cares. I still disagree that this is the Sox biggest problem. In fact, I don't see the Sox having a big problem. I see us 1.5 games ahead of the Twins, with a pretty damn good shot of winning the division.

Just because your on pace to win your division, doesn't mean you don't have problems.

Offensive consitency has been a problem for the Sox this year. Yeah, it's nice when you mash out a pair of home runs and pound the other team, but I can't see how anyone wouldn't want more balance in this lineup.
