For pitching on short rest and also because of his grand father dying. We need 25 players like this on the Sox..

I have always had huge respect for Buehrle and it's even more now.. So if he gives up 10 runs in the first at least he gave it a shot....

The guy is giving it his all to help the team by pitching on short rest. We need a spot starter and he would have to miss his start b/c of his grandfather if he had to go tomorrow so instead of doing what may be best for him, and taking a full day's rest, he is taking the ball on short rest against a potent offense. The guy is a gamer; that's for sure.

Nope, they will be bitching why their hot dog bun breaks from the bottom or why the Churros are cold.

Valid gripes.

But I agree, props to #56 regardless of tonight's outcome.

I'll be there. Let's hope he can pull off a performance like Jordan when he was sick or Tiger on 1 leg for tonight. 7 IP's, 4 hits, 1 run, 5 K's, 1 BB, 88 pitches. Sox win 8-2.

If your concession tracker is correct and you pay for 9 beers per game, that's a **** ton of money on ballpark beverages.

God bless him. Go get them Mark! We all will be rooting for him to do his best.

I already knew he was a classy guy for waving to my son when he yelled, "Daddy, its Mark Buehrle, HI MARK BUEHRLE!!!"

I used to applaud Wilbur Wood when he pitched on two days' rest. I used to applaud Stan Bahnsen and Steve Stone when they pitched on two days' rest.

A lot of guys used to pitch on three day's rest. And a lot of them were more effective and more likely to pitch complete games than pitchers in five-man rotations are today.

Mark Buehrle deserves your applause, but three day's rest didn't used to be a big deal.

I seem to recall a night Buehrle pitched on two days rest.

Well, all I gotta say is that if Buehrle pulls off a win today (of all days, Grandpa Jose's night to pitch) with something like a death in the back of his mind, while Contreras can't pull of a win when something like Pablo Ozuna taking a flight to Charlotte hapens, Contreras can officially count himself among the women.

I really wish Buehrle "good luck," a win would be really nice

If he pitches really well and the Sox win, it could be one of the most emotional nights in White Sox history. Not saying it'll happen, but just imagine it.

I understand its tough and everything, but nobody came to my warehouse dock and applauded me for working and getting off 90 minutes before my grandfathers funeral. Just saying.

Come on now, we're showing support for the guy. Did you mention your grandfather's funeral here at WSI? Because I know when my Gram died and I metioned it, I got support from folks around here.

Plus, 30+ thousand don't pay to watch you work at the dock or to watch me carry the mail.

INR is personally paying for Buehrle's extension. We're glad he is doing so too.

What the hell is a casual baseball fan?

I take that to mean someone who likes watching games but doesn't know all the "behind-the-scenes" details. I'm kind of like that; I love watching baseball but I don't know much about the players' personal lives, contracts, etc. That's what's great about WSI; if I do want to know something along those lines, there's always someone here who will know the answer. :D:

I dunno. Women could stand to be just a little taller, and would it kill them to learn to fly...

For the purposes of pick-up basketball, if nothing else.

How about 7.1 IP, 6 hits, 1 run, 3 K's, 0 BB, 91 pitches and the Sox win 10-2?

I still can't believe he didn't walk anyone. He was pitching (effectively) behind in the count all night. Still, he was on last night, and it was great to see.

Are we all still voting for Javy Vazquez as the ace of the staff, and talking about how Mark Buehrle is a nice #4 starter like so many folks were proclaiming him before the season?
