I thought it might be appropriate to show this picture since it's '83 Tribute Weekend and Brian Bannister is starting for the Royals today. This picture was in the '83 Sox Yearbook. This looks to be taken right after the press conference when Floyd signed with the Sox; Brian would have been two years old at the time.

That is cool! I noticed the retro uniforms were swimming on most of the players yesterday. It seemed like it was definitely a different cut than the originals. Too bad. They looked silly on some. Personally, I was never very fond of those uniforms and I don't remember them wearing red sox of all things!

That's totally what I was thinking when I saw the game yesterday. Everyone had pretty tight pants back then. They looked nothing like the style these guys have now a days.

Also, remember that today's utility infielders are more "buff" than 1980s power hitters. Also, take a look at photos of Ozzie as a rookie. He was thinner than Alexei is now. Uniforms were "cut" differently then because players were built differently.
