Nice AA debut for Brandon Allen. 2 homers off David Price.

That is very impressive.

I know the guy is a dead-ringer for Willie Harris facially, but how does he compare to, say, Ryan Howard talent/tools-wise?

Good to hear Birmingham getting some reinforcements considering AA has absolutely nobody, offensive-wise.

Ain't that the truth. Maybe Allen has a chance at the majors, but I wouldn't bet you a penny to a dollar that any of the other position players at Birmingham will make it to the big leagues. That team just can't hit.

What's he most similar to, then? Limited ceiling?

Maybe a poor man's Daryle Ward? That's about the best I can think of.

Before everyone writes off Brandon Allen, I'd give him time to develop before casting final judgment. I have not seen him play, but he's only 22 and has shown nice progress the last year. He's always been valued as being one of the best power hitters in the Sox minors.
