View Full Version : Do You Own Any Caps Of Teams Other Than The White Sox?

Let me just say I'm a cap collector. I'm rarely ever seen without a baseball cap on my head. I probably own about 40-50 baseball caps.

The team most represented in my collection is my beloved White Sox. I have more caps of them than any other team. But, I do own many different caps of other MLB teams. I buy (and wear) them because I like the color scheme and/or the logo.

Whenever I wear one of the other teams' caps I get a strange look from people I know and a "Hey I thought you were a White Sox fan." I usually respond with a "Sometimes a cap is just a cap.....I wear this one because I like it."

Does owning and wearing caps from other MLB teams make me any less of a fan? I sure don't think it does....I'm as die-hard a White Sox fan as anyone out there.

That brings me to my question: Is there anyone out there who owns caps of other teams besides their favorite (White Sox)?

Thanks for posting!!

Marlins (souvenir)
Orioles (souvenir)
Braves
Old Diamondbacks (liked the "D" logo that was a snake)
a few Reds (my childhood team)
I think I have an A's hat somewhere
Old Astros hats with the "H" in the star
I had an Expos hat but my dog chewed the **** out of it
Brewers mb "glove" hat (always one of my faves)

I have Giants and Mets hats (both alternate road hats, coincidentally) and an old style Brewers cap that doesn't fit. I've long thought about collecting the caps of every team (just the official caps, and including the Cubs), but I've just never gotten around to it.

Yeah the old Brewers M-B baseball glove logo is one of my favorites as well. It seems to be a favorite of alot of WSIers too!!:D:

I also like the old Orioles cap with the smiling bird face on it. The Brewers and O's definitely should've kept those logos and not gone to something else like they did.

Besides the Sox, I have one Cardinals and one Blue Jays hat (the one with the red maple leaf logo).

Even though I have a big dome (size 8), I still love wearing baseball caps. Other than the Sox, I have:

AL: Angels (2), Orioles, Royals, Blue Jays.

NL: Brewers, Nationals (home & road), Padres, Reds, Cardinals, Expos, Phillies, Pirates (2), Giants.

College (actual baseball team caps): Pitt, Stanford, UIC, Kansas, Texas, Mississippi State, Michigan.

As some of the other posters, I loved the Brewers' "mb" hats. I had one that was my official softball hat for years. I might just have to buy a new one.

I own way too many hats, but the only ones I wear with any regularity (besides from my plethora of Sox hats) are:

2 Brewers hats (1 old logo & 1 new logo)
Expos
Reds alternate (black cap, red brim)
Jays (The now defunct pewter cap)
Notre Dame on field baseball cap

and my current favorite: 1908 St Louis Browns its a beautiful cap, I love the color combo and the logo.

I tend to stray from anything that isn't worn on field. I can't stress how much I hate the 'style' or 'fashion' caps.

Geeze, all official 5950 hats:

Sox (1 new plain one, one with All-Star logo 2007, world series one, world series champs one, stars and stripes one)
Kansas City Royals (black with blue brim)
Tampa Bay Devil Rays (all turquoise with the TB and ray)
Both Phillies
Reds (black with red brim)
Giants
Padres (old one with grey underbrim and new one)
Marlins (ugly bright teal one)
Dodgers
Brewers (mb)
Mets
Cardinals (home red and away blue)
Braves

That's all I can think about right now. I know there are more.

Quite a few, but the 5950s don't fit me well, and look kind of ridiculous on my head.

My favorite non-Sox hat I wear right now is this one:

Besides all my Sox hats, I used to own both a home and road St. Louis Cardinals hat.

I also have:

- 1 Bulls cap

-1 Boston Bruins cap

- a couple different Arizona Cardinals caps

Other than these, I also always own at least one beat up, sweat stained knock around cap that I wear to cut the grass, play softball, jog, etc., which I get a new one of every couple of years. Other than a Miller Lite hat I got from a give away at a Sox game, these have always been freebies from work, with the company name or logo on them.

I only own 4 caps.

White Sox
1917 White Sox World Series... It's navy blue, except the front 2 panels that are white and then the 1917 SOX logo with the red outline and white stars embedded in the "S". Says 1917 on the back where the MLB logo would be on a normal 5950 hat.
Notre Dame - Green cap with gold shamrock
Bears - Navy blue with orange "C" logo.

One of my prize possesions is my old Expos hat! I saw a guy wearing an Expos hat yesterday at the gym (the old tri-color one) and wanted to stop him and tell him how awesome his hat was, but I was running and out of breath!

I have a Brewers cap that was a giveaway at a Brewers game in 2000. I have a Montreal Expos hat that was a giveaway at a dinner I attended at which Jerry Reinsdorf was the featured speaker in 2003. I tattended a cap-day game in San Diego in the 1980s, but I gave the cap away to a big Padres fan (who is now a big Diamondbacks fan). I have a bunch of White Sox caps. Most are adjustable giveaway caps. A 1983-style cap was a gift from a fellow White Sox fan I worked with. For years I have only bought fitted Sox caps, replacing them when they get old and beaten up.

I have a cap from the Bullhead City Junior High School baseball team I coached in 1979. I have a cap bearing the logo of a previous employer. If the "TC" Twins caps weren't worn by a team I hate, I would buy one because it displays my monogram. My next purchase (I've seen them in local sporting goods stores) may be a Modesto Nuts (http://www.modestonuts.com/store/browse/index.html?c=1) cap. The Yuma Scorpions (http://ys1.glitnirticketing.com/ysticket/storev2/view.php?product_id=257&s_custom_id=25) have an interesting cap (although the link doesn't show the best I've seen), and with the years I did in Yuma, I have thought about ordering one.

Besides over a dozen White Sox hats, I have a cap for every current NL team (in some incarnation -- my Padres hat is one of the old gold & Brown ones from the 80s). I live by the axiom "I cheer for the White Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs."

I also have some collectors hats for defunct MLB teams -- Expos, Washington Senators, Brooklyn Dodgers, St. Louis Browns, KC A's, Milwaukee Braves (actually a souvenir my dad picked up at the 1958 World Series), and some Negro League caps.

I have a Great Falls White Sox hat which I reckon should be a collectors' item since they are now the Voyageurs.

I did see a GF White Sox hat at Grandstand about a month ago. I got mine in Great Falls.

I have a bunch of ski resort hats and other non MLB organizations.

Colt .45's.

Beyond the .45's, I have deemed it unacceptable to purchase the headgear of any other franchise than the CWS for the exception of plastic batting helmets. I confess to a '79 version of the Buc's, '80 Brew Crew and '84 Padres.

I've got too many to list ... but I like to buy hats the year after a team changes its uniforms or moves cities ... why? No idea.

Vancouver Grizzlies
Charlotte Hornets
Montreal Expos
Purple and Orange DBacks
Devils Rays dark green
Utah Jazz -- purple and light blue
Padres -- orange and navy
Texas Rangers -- all red
Vancouver Canucks -- red, navy, royal, grey

I'd love to get some Hartford Whaler gear -- but the stuff on eBay is usually junk and they don't license the logo anymore.

And I have an embarrassing amount of authentic jerseys that I do the same thing for too.

The only other MLB hat I've purchased is a Washington Nationals cap because I like the "W" in script. I've picked up some KC and Milwaukee hats over the years as giveaways too.

I've got a bunch of Hawks and Wolves caps. My favorite non-baseball hat is a Team USA hockey hat from a few years back.

I have a lot of SOX hats, both fitted and non-fitted. My current favorite is my 3-year old BP hat (with the silver brim).

Outside of my SOX hats the other MLB hats I own are the new Rays navy/light blue BP hat (I felt I needed to show some kind of local support since moving to Sarasota) and the black Florida Marlins hat I bought at the end of the 2003 season after hearing nothing but Cubs-Cubs-Cubs from my brother-in-law all year long. I don't particularly like the Marlins, however I do like the hat and I loved rubbing it in. It's a low crown version of the New Era on field hat (old wool material). I wish the new 5950s fit like this one does.

I use to have hats for the Marlins and Pirates, but I've outgrown them. I've been thinking about getting a non-Sox hat to mix things up. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I'm considering the Marlins, Brewers, and Rockies.
