Thought this was an interesting article as I didn't know this field served as both "Comiskey" and the Reds stadium in Eight Men Out.

Yep, it helped that Bush Stadium was and is in a portion of Indy that is extremely economically depressed, so there was no skyline in the background for the makers of the move to contend with. Gunshots - maybe....probably - but no skyline. And if you get the chance to head downtown, go to the Statehouse and you will see where several of the courtroom scenes were shot.
