Absolute sham that he didn't make the team as a selection...absolute sham...same with our pitching staff. Looks like the only way our guys who deserve it to get in is to win the World Series and have Ozzie select them the next year.

White Sox nation has done this in '05 and '06...let's take back our title and make it another in '08.

This is going to be tough as this time there are not 2 Yankees to split the votes and Giambi and his damn moustache might get him a little more national appeal although I think most fans hate Giambi because of the steroid thing so he might not get as many votes. I'm more worried about Longoria, as he's been great and considering he's playing for the best team in baseball right now he may get a lot more votes than a Ray would in years past. Let's get out there and get JD to the allstar game, it's an abomination that he didn't make it outright.

Should we split the WSI vote? Good luck with that argument on this site. Dye has him in every statistical category.

This is our reputation at stake. Plus, you know, he actually deserves to be there. I'm voting right now.

Because I still think an All-Star Game should have the best players, not the most popular. Sorry. I doubt D-Wright makes or breaks their team, but for him not to make it with the year he's having is a joke. Ditto for JD. Doesn't really matter to me which side they are on. Frankly, I think this is the NL's year anyway, their team on paper looks a ton better.

Funny how they keep doing that despite us crushing their pretty-boy in 2005 and winning again in 2006. And I think both Longoria and Dye are deserving. It always seems like these "last guy" votes contain 5 more than deserving players than most of the starting rosters.

Oh no - all the voting we've all been doing and we can't beat the kids in Florida?!? Remember, there are kids out of school for the summer and they are feverishly voting for Longoria. I'm not saying Longoria doesn't deserve it, but I love Jermaine Dye. Yikes, I gotta get back to voting.

When I get home, I plan to put another 100 in before I go out and another 100-200 when I get home at the end of the night.

In between, I'll be texting.

The rays have been the big story this year and everyone is hoping on the bandwagon and Longoria has been outstanding so unfortunately, we've got our hands full. It's gonna take a lot more votes from everyone to get it done. We can do this!

I'm surprised Longoria is leading. I thought Jason "Balco" Giambi would be our biggest worry considering the game is in Yankee Stadium and 20 million people live in New York. I think it must be that "Cinderella" thing that the Rays have going right now. Those votes can't all be coming from Tampa.

I hate to spend my 1,000th post on the media bias, but I thought that I should mention that on ESPN this morning, the Mike and Mike show (don't yell at me for watching - there was nothing else on) probably didn't help our case. Buster Olney was commenting on the biggest All-Star snubs (after he already mentioned the Sox and DRays - specifically JD - on SportsCenter), and misspoke. When asked, the names out of his mouth with AJ and Evan Longoria, was Magglio Ordonez of the White Sox!!!!!! This was correct about 3 years ago - what he meant to say (I believe) was Jermaine Dye. The Red Sox-Yankees series must have had him forget about the rest of baseball and he reverted back to the Sox rightfielder from 4 years ago... thanks Buster

I'll give Buster the pass. Lasts night, he identified Dye as the biggest AL Snub on Sportscenter. He clearly misspoke this morning, but it was like 6 AM for him after working late last night on the Sabathia trade. Mike and Mike should have corrected him though.

Not surprising. Dye killed the Cubs during both crosstown series games which probably helps to fuel their hatred. Dye also owns a World Series MVP trophy which is something Cub fans can only dream about one of their players getting. It's too bad too, because Dye is a class act on and off the diamond.

Y'know, if Cubs fans want to vote anti-Sox and try to get Longoria in, that is fine with me. I just wish their fans and the local media would drop the pretense that they don't care about the Sox or what they do. When you see an "anti-Sox" all star campaign on their boards when they already have SEVEN of their own all stars in the game, really, you have to wonder which fanbase has the so called inferority complex?

If it's the one I visited for the first time yesterday, that is one very lame board. I dropped by to see what thoughtful Flubs fans might be saying about Sabathia to the Brewers. There was exactly one thread, started by a troll and locked after a handful of posts. Sure, ban the troll, but no discussion whatsoever about a go-for-it trade by a divisional rival? Meanwhile, posters are talking about how the official estimate of the crowd at the 2005 WS parade was inflated and the Cubs parade this year will draw more. :?:

COPYRIGHTED TEXT

I'm assuming Giambi is ten percent away from Longoria and that Dye is somewhere in between. If he is 5%, that would indeed put the distance at 200,000. We are going to have to dig way deep. We got AJ in with 3.6 million votes. At the current pace, Dye will need around 4.5 million votes. Hopefully, this next voting update (out at around 2 central) will have us closing the gap or it will be a herculean effort.

I rallied my Sox fans coworkers to vote today.

Sometimes I get so caught up in voting that it's hard to stop. I was only going to do about 20 votes an hour while at work. So far, I have a 50-50 split going between voting and working. :o:

If Jermaine doesn't make it, I'll be royally pissed. I'm still pissed he didn't make it outright, but considering he's the best by a long shot on the ballot right now it's just a joke he'll lose to Longoria. Yes, Evan has had a better season then Joe, but he hasn't had a better season then JD. When looking at the stats of the final men on the ballot, it should be a no brainer who should go.

Longoria is the "sexy" pick. He's being pushed by ESPN and with all the Rays bandwagoners, I wouldn't be surprised.

Damn. I was hoping we would have caught up by now. We have apparently more than we did for AJ the year he won.

This is it. 24 hours people. Anybody with no lives or just sick at the thought of a Tampa Bay DEVIL Ray winning this, just pour the votes on now. Again, those with unlimited texting have a big advantage because that's the quickest way of voting.

just type in any 5 digit number in the val code area and hit enter not click vote and the vote goes through

Dont know about the PC's.

eedit: Now its just taking 1 number in the val code area and hit return.. And the vote is counting. I just keep entering the number 1 and enter.

Come on WHITE SOX Army. One of our problems is we didn't form an alliance with an NL team fan base. Apparently Mets fans are voting for Longoria in exchange for Rays fan votes for Wright. However, the problem with this alliance is, the Mets fans will help Longoria much more than the Rays fans will be able to help Wright. If the Mets really wanted Wright to get in, they should have made an alliance with Sox fans. We have the numbers and the will to get the job done.

I propose we get together with Brewers fans and form an alliance with them to get Corey Hart in. Anyone willing to go over the the Brewers' Board and make this proposal to them?

Okay, haven't read the whole thread so for all I know this is old news, but if you keyboard shortcuts, you can save a lot of time.

PC machine:

Load the ballot. Set it up.

move the mouse cursor to the box to enter the code then let go of the mouse. put you right hand on he keypad and your left hand should be with one finger on tab and one finger on alt buttons.

type in the confirmation number
press tab four times fast
press enter on the keypad
press alt+left arrow to go back (not reload the whole ballot every time)

When ballot finishes going back, you will have new confirmation number. Once ballot fully loads the mouse cursor will be already set in the confirmation number box. Double click to highlight old number, type new number... repeat steps.

It really does save time if you are at all quick with your typing. Moving your mouse is a sucker's play...

If you want to completely not use your mouse you can hold SHIFT + TAB together while the ballot is reloading and it will go to the validation code entry and highlight it automatically such that you can enter in the new code. (It is 7 hits to be precise buy I have gotten to the point where I can time holding it pretty well to get to the code entry.) You can do this while the page is reloading such that as soon as you see the new code you can type it in and repeat.

Another suggestion; don't waste time trying to decipher unreadable codes. Just don't enter one and it'll give you the same error message you get if you enter the wrong one, and it'll bring up another code.

Red Sox fans probably picked him as the guy to block Giambi, but then again you wouldn't think they would choose to pick a guy ahead of them in the division. Longoria is more famous than most rookies because of his name and I guess the common baseball fan doesn't realize that JD and EVs stats are interchangable except for JDs average being about 20 points higher. I think we can win this thing. I will most likely get at least 1,000 votes in for JD now that I can quickly text 10 at a time. It will keep me busy at work tomorrow.

I think it's a combination of things.
1. Right or wrong, he's been the favorite of the national media and has gotten plenty of attention lately thanks to high profile series against the Red Sox and the Yankees. National League fans, who don't have a stake in our race, are more likely to throw a vote his way due to the general impression that he is the most deserving
2. Red Sox fans wanted to keep Giambi out of the game and show respect to their new foes, so their online contingent has generally been voting for him.
3. The Rays got have played every day that the voting has taken place and had two home games to promote Longoria. The White Sox and Yankees were both off Monday.
4. This is more anecdotal, but most Cubs fans I have read online or talked to, are also voting for Longoria.

So, its basically us White Sox fans vs. general National League fans, the media, Red Sox fans and Cubs fans. Its a perfect storm against us and we are still in it.

Thank you very much for pointing this out, I had never texted to vote because I assumed the MLB charged some money for each text or something like that. Here's something I got off the Sox MLB board. I don't have a Motorola phone so I can't use it but maybe somebody here might want to try it.

If you have a motorola cell phone with the motorola phone tools software just click on the text message option from the menu. Then put in the 36197 number in the To... box as many times as you can separated by a ; between the numbers. Next put in A1 in the message box. Last send the message and do this as many times as it will allow you to.
This will allow you to vote when you can't be by a computer to do the mlb.com ballot or when you are asleep. The bad thing about this is that you do have to connect your cell phone to a computer the whole time that you are sending the messages. But it has allowed me to vote over 10,000 times for Dye without even having to press a button.

Hey guys..I cant believe this hasnt been done in the last 24 hours yet. Mets website and Rays Website have an alliance already. At this point Aaron Rowand has no chance of winning this thing. Everybody would love to see Aaron make it but its not gonna happen. I know many of us have been voting for Milwaukee's Hart all along. However, I see nobody has reached out to any Milwaukee message boards to try and form an alliance with them.

Its obvious that they have tons of die hard fans as Hart is in first. Plus who better to vote for a Brewers guy than a Sox fan. Both fan groups hate the Cubs with a passion. I have reached out to the Mlb.com and Espn.com Brewers' boards and i think we should all post on those boards saying we will vote for Hart and help keep him in first in hopes they will help propel Dye into first. Also, please reach out to any other Significant Brewers' boards you know of. Please post any significant sites in this thread and i encourage all of us to try and reach out.
