I have tickets tonight. Friend waffling because heavy storms lasting from about 7-11pm predicted.

Just wondering - if the game did get rained out tonight, do you think it would not be made up until the last games of the season, which is the only other time Cleveland is in town?

It's not going to matter when we win the division by six games. :D:

The pluses would be (i) an off day in the middle of a long stretch of games and (ii) missing Sabathia's last visit to Chicago, which would mean he pitches against the Twins on Friday.

**** it. I'd prefer to kick the Indians while they're down. Stay away, rain.

They'll get the game in. I'd rather they lose tonight than have a doubleheader the last weekend of the season.

As much as I want the sox to play today because they are hot...common sense says I would prefer to miss CC ,let him start vs the Twins and play a depleted and dispirited Toon team an extra game at the end.
I do think this could be that rare rain-out as it is getaway day for the toons and a nite game...they will not wait til midnite to start this game,I would think.

What about a double header tommorow? Kick the Indians ass during the day and the A's ass at night.

I agree. We don't want a doubleheader the last weekend of the season. Sabathia is tough, but the Sox are hot right now. Let's hope the game gets played, and let's hope the Sox are up to the task.

Both teams have a mutual off day on Thursday, Sept. 4, just after the Sox conclude a three-game visit to Cleveland. The Indians would have to make the stop in Chicago on the way to Kansas City. The Sox would just start their homestand a day earlier.

However, making up the game that would mean the Sox would play 24 consecutive games (and 21 for the Indians).

But I agree with JB, let's just play the game tonight. Maybe Thome can hit a first inning three-run homer and then Contreras can shut them down for five full innings, and then let the rains fall.

Rain hold off til 8pm. I have a softball game tonight and we already have 4 make-ups.

I know this is a little off topic, but I have never had tickets to game that has been called before. If the game is called, can I exchange them for tickets to one of the games this weekend?

If the game has no impact on the divisional races, the game would not be played the final weekend. The Sox would simply play 161 games this year.

Radar doesn't look nice right now. It's not ginormous but its a big cluster of strong storms. And let me tell you I already have 2 inches of rain in Buffalo Grove.

I could be wrong, but I doubt that's true. It's one thing if they would have to have one team travel somewhere just for one game, but if they were already there, I suspect they'd play it (especially if they could make it a split doubleheader and charge twice for it).

Yeah, I think this batch of storms went north. It got real dark and ominous looking here, but we didn't get anything.

I hope they don't start the game to just stop it a few minutes later like the Orioles game

The sky looks pretty mean, and when I stepped outside just a few minutes ago to grab the week's issue of the Bridgeport News and the mail, I got hit by a few raindrops; however, the radar on WGN's website doesn't show very much big stuff coming our way. This one should have no problem being played.

According to Indians' pregame, the game should start around 7:30.

Yep I found it! Bernie Mac was on, and I didn't know if it was a WCIU game tonight or not.
