View Full Version : Painful sounding baseball injury...

Usually we hear of testicular tortion (twisted nuts) you don't often hear of a testicular fracture (broken balls?) in baseball.

Was he wearing a cup? I can't imagine anyone dumb enough to be a MLB catcher and not wear a cup...

The sound of this just...well...hurts

Diamondbacks placed catcher Chris Snyder on the disabled list with a left testicular fracture.

That's gotta be even worse than Kaz Matsui's anal fissures. Snyder was injured when he was hit by a foul tip last night. Miguel Montero will start and be backed up by Robby Hammock while Snyder is out. He's worth adding in NL-only leagues. Jul. 1 - 9:44 pm et

I can't imagine a catcher ever not wearing a cup. I imagine that he was.

I was watching the game when it happened. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I know people who had that; they said it was quite painful to say the least. I'd rather not experience either, thank you very much.

Ehhh he was just bustin' balls.

Oh man that sounds painful. When I was in little league one of my team mates was the recipient of a line drive to his groin.
Poor kid....

I thought ex-wives were the ball-busters.
I was wrong..the baseball is the ball-crusher.

Can you put a cast on that?

Good God, that's gotta hurt. I've been the victim of a testicular injury (not just hit in them), and they're no joke. I couldn't even walk afterward.

Just reading that made me unable to breathe.

I am already sick just thinking about this.

It happens. Cups don't provide 100% protection. As an umpire, when I go down in the crouch, I also put my hand in that general area (not grabbing myself, just strategically in front of) to provide extra protection. Cups shatter and the guys are still able to move around in there.
