Cook pitched a complete game shutout against the Padres tonight and threw only 79 pitches. That's efficient. On July 26th, 2007, Cook pitched a complete game and threw only 74 pitches, setting a Rockies record. He has a thing for low-pitch-total shutouts in July.

Cookie has definitely stepped up to fill the absence of a good and consistent Jeff Francis (who, FWIW, went on the DL this week). He has easily become the Rockies ace.
