Saw this on the Cubune website:

If Canseco finds another team that wants his services, he can request a release from the Sox. But Canseco said in Charlotte this week that his contract with the Sox not only prohibits him from going to another Central Division club, but to any American League team that's contending for a wild-card spot. What's the definition of "contending" these days?

Williams declined to comment on Canseco's contract.

I think K Willy wants Canseco to hit a few homers and then get someone to trade us a decent player for him. Except as an emergency DH I don't think Canseco has much of a major league future with us.

Yeah, but saying that he can't go to any team in the Central or any team that's contending kinda limits his options, don't ya think? Who outside those teams would want him?
