Jenks makes it just a little bit too interesting in a non-save situation. Great 3-6 DP to get the first two outs of the ninth.

White Sox Beat Cubs in Season Series, 3-3

Why did I post that headline? It harkens back to the 1968 Harvard-Yale game in which Harvard scored 16 unanswered points to tie Yale 29-29. The following edition of the Harvard Crimson has the headline "Harvard Beats Yale, 29-29." After being down 0-3 to them, the way we came back to sweep the Cubs is amazing and a hugh shell shock to the Cubs.

Well, the trash talk will be fun tomorrow but there isn't too much to say. We went 3-3 against them and both teams are in first.

I think the trash talk will be minimal, although it's going to come after what happened last week.

I think true fans of both teams know that there are bigger things down the road.

The White Sox need to stay focused and not have the emotional let down that tends to happen after these series.

Interesting point. I guess they'd have to put Soto in and lose the DH for the rest of the game. I know the Twins do this a fair amount with Mauer on days when he doesn't catch. I guess it's a risk you have to take when the alternative is having Darrel Freaking Ward or whoever the Twins have on their bench, as a DH.

The Twins did that once at Comiskey last year. In the First Inning, Redmond took a foul ball off his head and had to leave the game with Mauer replacing him thereby vacating the DH spot.

Since it was the 2007 White Sox they were playing, it did not effect the outcome.

Since you guys are all gushing over MCH I'll give my two cents.

Quite frankly it was embarassing watching him twitching around, touching his face, making his grandma smell his cap, screaming at every fly ball as if it was going to be a homer, etc.

I don't know him (MR. ALL MY POSTS ARE IN CAPS) and won't pretend to say I do. All If there is something wrong with him, then by all means, my apologies. But if he was just "pumped up" the kid needs to grow up a little and show some class - especially when sitting in prime seats like he was.

Jenks is beginning to make me nervous when he pitches.

Yet, as it worked out, the Sox weren't the only team not to score after putting runners on second and third with none out.

Tonight, Jenks couldn't get his curve over. He throws a great curve and many hitters wouldn't have had the discipline to swing at it tonight, especially after he got ahead 0-2. Still, Marshall was getting his curve over and some White Sox hitters were called out.

I don't get to see much Sox baseball, but seeing two games this weekend impressed upon me how good Alexei Ramirez is. At the beginning of the season, I thought Uribe's secondbase defense was important to the team and wondered if Ramirez should spend some time in AAA.

I was wrong.

I have known for awhile that I was wrong, but every time I get a chance to see the Sox play, I'm reminded of how wrong I was.

Yeah, it seems like I don't really see that 6/12 breaking pitch of his drop in for strikes lately. The sinking fastball has been his best pitch this year, but he needs to get the breaking pitch over.

A BB, a frozen rope double and 2 atom balls. Game over. Starting to sound like Koch revisited. The sinker is a nice pitch, one he didn't seem to have in '05. I agree the difference is that he can't control his breaking pitches. Cubs laid off them very well. It's still hard to go long off him, that's good. As I've posted before, there are other options to close a game, right here, right now if need be. He's still a very good closer. If we wanted to sell high, he'd make blockbuster trade bait. No, I won't retract that.

A Cubs fan I work with gave me a lot of crap when the Cubs swept the Sox last weekend. I received an IM from him that Monday the minute I sat at my desk. Well, it was my turn to return the favor. Here's part of the transcript of our civil conversation this morning:

Me [8:12 AM]:
Good morning sir.

Me [8:12 AM]:
I have to apologize for the White Sox.

Me [8:13 AM]:
They weren't very hospitable to the Cubs, not allowing them to win a game.

Me [8:13 AM]:
Having Aramis Ramirez go 0-13 in the series.

Me [8:13 AM]:
D Lee striking out 3 times yesterday.

Me [8:13 AM]:
Revenge is sweep...I mean sweet.

Me [8:14 AM]:
Yes, the White Sox weren't very good hosts.

Co-worker [8:14 AM]:
i give your team props, they did what they had to do

Co-worker [8:15 AM]:
3-3 33-33 over all record - doesnt get any more even than that

Me [8:15 AM]:
No doubt.

Co-worker [8:15 AM]:
you kicked our butts in your home field

Co-worker [8:16 AM]:
Well, you kicked ours on yours, so we're even.

I don't know if this was brought up already, but just how stupid is Piniella? He had his catcher play DH. What if Blanco went down with an injury? Do they have a third catcher?

Fool. Forgot how to play the more sophisticated AL version of baseball.

This is the same guy who took Zambrano out of a tie game so that he would be ready for Game 4 last October. I think being in Tampa, Lou lost his mind a little. Yet another reason to not fear the Cubs.

Yup.

The bad call on Crede non-check swing is a wash since it didn't lead to the Sox scoring any runs, so the big reason Scrub fans are complaining is that their beloved Sweet Lou was ejected for something that turned out to mean nothing towards the final outcome of the game.

As for the second bad call--it's baseball. It happens.

Great win, nonetheless.

Very nice Spawn, thanks for sharing. That's how I feel too - yup, they beat our butts last weekend, and they looked great, and we didn't. But it was our turn this weekend. Yay.

If I was MCH and I came on here to see people talking about me so unkindly, I wouldn't be posting on here either because I'd be feeling like a schmuck. I'm just sayin'. Not very nice.

Oh, and yesterday's game was especially nice for me, being a big FOBA and all. I'm loving what I'm seeing in TCQ and Alexei too. Alexei is just so calm all the time, even when he makes a crazy-great play. He cracks me up!

I really like both Alexei and CarlosQ's attitudes. Both seem extremely humble. TCQ epitimizes the strong silent type. He is one of the most reticent yet intelligent talented players to wear a sox uni. Very even-keeled which should help him deal with the hype as the season goes on. Alexei is Mr. Cool on the field..nonchalantly makes the great plays and keeps playing like a real pro.
These two have really made huge contributions so far this season which is pretty stunning to me. OC, I expected to be good, Swish is what he is, but these two other newcomers have made this a surprise season in a good way.

When Alexei makes those ridiculously amazing plays, like flipping the ball straight from his glove because otherwise there wouldn't be time for a dp, I just go nuts. His calm attitude is what makes me just laugh and yell at the tv - wth?!!!! I'm like - look at him! That was crazy, and he's as calm as a cucumber!!! Hilarious!!

DrGozzie, Thome Fan, and I were all saying last night that Alexei's playing and his attitude are helping us with our sadness over losing Iguchi. MCH...your energy is incredible, whenever you read this thread, don't let the *******s get to you. :gulp:

Well put. Good for you MCH for enjoying the game.

A week ago today when I walked into the office you would have thought the Cubbies had just won the World Series, these people drove me nuts all week. Today I come in and 2 of them are out today (sick) and the rest barely said good morning. It's the quietest Monday in a looooong time for me and I kind of like it.

Yeah, that tends to happen with Cubbie fans. I had a guy ragging me last week complete with the attendance BS and how he get goosebumps going into Wrigley. This week he said the series was "no big deal".

The 2 out sick is funny.

They aren't goosebumps. They are either zits or hives from the lack of sanitation in that dump. (not sure if I should make this teal or not...)

That's more embarassing to me. I feel that going to the game is an opportunity to express your feelings, good or bad and not sit around like you're in school. I like MCHs enthusiasm. He can sit next to me at a Sox game anytime (especially if he has an extra scout seat ticket).

Whichever your preference - over the top enthusiasm or quiet enthusiasm - to each their own. It takes all kinds to make the world go round, and we need all kinds.

Before I say this, I want to qualify by saying I'm not always that great at practicing this myself, but I try to ask myself these questions before saying something - is it true? Is it accurate? Is it kind? Is it necessary? I could do a lot better on that myself, but I feel bad for MCH - how would you feel going to one of your hangouts to read people saying mean things about you?

And I feel for him because I'm included in that group of people who tend to get pretty excited about things they're really into, and it can end up being annoying, but I'm never trying to be annoying. Ahem, somebody close to me just told me yesterday that I should tone it down with my enthusiasm about baseball and the White Sox because I'm probably annoying people, and I felt really bad, so it's kinda timely. (and this was said by someone who loves me and was looking out for me and said it in a kind manner.)

Theres enthusiasm and there's the annoying psychotic display MCH put on last night.

There is a difference between the two.

Here's something encouraging: every time the Sox and Cubs have split their season series, the Sox have made the playoffs!

WOW! What a game! I was in the Scout Seats for that game and the whole row I was in and in the back were filled with die-hard, baseball lovin, season ticket holder White Sox fans. It was sooo fun.
