Sox are at 45-35, thats only 2 games away from the halfway mark how do you guys think that the Sox and the rest of the division will do in the second half and after the allstar game?

They'll win tonight, and that will be 81 games with a decision (don't forget the suspended game).

46-35.

They'll go 46-35 in the second half, and beat the Tigers by one game.

I don't know what will happen in the second half but under Ozzie things haven't gone as well as hoped for in the final 81 games most of the years he has been manager.

Not saying it's his "fault" in 2004 for example, the Sox lost both Ordonez and Thomas... but for what it's worth here are the numbers. In three of the four seasons Ozzie has been manager the Sox have had an under .500 record in the final 81 games.

2004:

1st 81 games - 43-38 .530...2nd 81 games - 40-41 .493
Final: 83-79 .512

2005:

1st 81 games - 55-26 .679...2nd 81 games - 44-37 .543
Final: 99-63 .611

2006:

1st 81 games - 53-28 .654...2nd 81 games - 37-44 .456
Final: 90-72 .556

2007:
1st 81 games - 36-45 .444...2nd 81 games - 36-45 .444
Final: 72-90 .444

Past performance is not an indicator of future results .

I'm choosing to look on the bright side

Which is why I said "I don't know what's going to happen in the 2nd half."

I am concerned though because the Sox had at least one real good team (2006) that simply spit the bit in the second half. The four seasons weren't all directly effected by injuries remember.

The other "joker" in all this is that if at the trade deadline you have three teams in the race, the pressure is really on to make a move or two, to shore up any area of weakness. If it was just two clubs, a G.M. might take a shot and stand pat...but three teams in the mix, to me, adds a vastly different dimension.

We'll see.

You can throw 2007 out the window too. They stunk in the first half, and lived right up to expectations by putting up the same ****ty record in the second half.

Like you said though, we shall see.
