Apparently, he also had to leave due to an injury as a result.

Edit: Against Johan Santana!

Hernandez got hurt after Carlos Beltran slid into him while he was blocking the plate. Hopefully in his case, he's ok.

1st home run ever by a Mariners pitcher, and it was a grand slam off of Johan Santana, no less.:o:

I saw that, and initially, I almost **** a brick, since I have Santana on my fantasy team. Thank god he was only on the hook for one of those 4 runs. :gulp:

If Felix Hernandez can a grand freakin' slam off Johan "The Almighty" Santana, anyone can. I mean it. Even Juan Uribe.

It was also the first grand slam by a pitcher during interleague play.

I'm really hoping Felix is okay. They are saying it's a sprain but I haven't heard how bad it is or how long they expect him to be out. He was about the only pitcher this year for the M's that was doing much. As if things weren't bad enough for the M's....:whiner::whiner::whiner:

I wouldn't go that far, but yes; Santana is giving up a lot of home runs these past two seasons.

I heard it on the radio, and the Met announcers were just dripping with amazement that he came out after the injury and threw a pitch! :o:

Johan hasn't been truly dominant so far. He's been good, though. The team hasn't hit consistently behind him, so the record is skewed.

Jayson Stark qualified just how special the Hernandez grand slam was on the "Mike & Mike" show on ESPN 1000 this morning.

Johan Santana had faced over 5,600 batters in his career before facing King Felix. Only ONE had hit a grand slam.

Felix Hernandez had only put a ball into fair territory twice in 8 career at bats before going yard yesterday. He had been 0-8.

Who says the Mets aren't the most screwed up franchise on earth?

Santana does give up his fair share of home runs.

"Just another example of the national league's archaic play style. Pitchers playing defense? How 1800s."

I will say that another New york team is more screwed up and that is the Knicks and we could also the New York Rangers.

Remember a year ago when the Blackhawks would have made the list?

God bless Rocky Wirtz!

I was at the game. No one could believe it. The Mets fans around me were putting it on Wright for the error.

King Felix may have the most raw talent of any young pitcher/player out there. I wouldn't put any feat past him.
