Has there ever been any times during a sox game were there was a tornado waring?

Just a couple seasons ago in late September, I heard the air raid sirens go off in Lot C. Apparently, a tornado touched down somewhere on the north side.

Of course. We live in the Midwest. Tornado warnings are common.

Wow this is weird, I was just talking to my dad last week about this exact thing! i asked him if there had ever been a tornado at the cell, and what they would do if there was one...

There is a tornado whenever Bobby Jenks pitches.

Don't think there was a tornado warning involved, but I remember when I was 5 years old the south side was hit by a 103 mph wind gust late in the afternoon on July 2, 1970 (I remember being scared ****less by the loud crashing noise when the TV antenna on our roof toppled over). IIRC the White Sox game that afternoon had ended only a short time before.

Heard of the "butterfly effect?"

Juan Uribe's corkscrew swing spawned an F-2 just outside of Albuquerque back in 06.

I was at a game back in the mid 90's when they evacuated the UD and bleacher area for severe storms that were about to hit. Luckily the sox were not to good and the UD only had a few folks in it around the Home plate area.

The game never did get played but they blew off the fireworks after 2 hours of rain for all the fans that stuck around. We watched the display in the pouring rain.

This wasn't at the Cell, but in 2004 I caught a game at Silver Cross Field (Joliet Jack hammers) and mid way through the game, some nasty wind came in and some papers blew onto the field and were swirling.

The players ran off the field and almost all the fans ran for the exit. It turns out it was nothing but it freaked everyone out due to the fact there was thunder and lightning on the horizon, and that Joliet was hit by a tornado earlier that spring.

I can't remember the exact year, but there was an opener not too long ago where there was a tornado warning. The game was delayed for a few hours and the sox won with Buehrle pitching.

There was a game in July 03 where there was a tornado warning. The game was delayed 3 hours and finally started around 10:00.

Everytime Juan Uribe comes up to bat, hold onto something solid.

Found the Tribune clip about that storm with some Comiskey damage reports. The game had already ended.
