What are the chances he breaks Thigpens record this year? It is only June 11, and he already has 27 saves over 67 games. Can he get 31 more in the remaining 95 games the Angels play? Seems like a distinct possibility.

He's going to pull a hamstring after celebrating for his 55th save in Oakland. I would then wonder why it didn't happen the 54 other times before that.

It could happen but lots of things can happen to slow him off his pace. Either the Angels start blowing teams away or get on a losing streak. Still it's been nice that Thiggy's record has lasted as long as it has.

I like to think there is a supernatural force that prevents Thiggy's record from being broken.

Gagne didn't do it and Smoltz didn't do it, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
The Angels are a similarly structured team to Smoltz's Braves and Gagne's Dodgers where they put up 55--winners, but not sluggers--so it's possible, but Gagne and Smoltz were better relievers in a weaker league, so it just stands to reason that he probably won't do it.
