Could the Cubs get any luckier?

Cubs fans are already celebrating, this should make them celebrate harder. The Cardinals are already in trouble when it comes to injuries, this just makes it a lot worse.

The Cardinals pounded lumps on the Reds tonight without Pujols, 10-0.

They remain 2.5 games back of the Cubs. From here to the All-Star break will be a real critical time for St. Louis. The Cardinals have done an excellent job of weathering the storm and staying in the hunt while the Cubs are red-hot.

Everyone keeps insisting the Cardinals are going to fade. If they lose Pujols for the long haul, they probably will. But if Pujols can come back within three weeks or so, I think St. Louis can keep the pressure on the Cubs.

The Cubs are due for a market correction. They aren't going to go undefeated at home for the rest of the year.

Ankiel just came off the DL and HR'd tonight. That's a boost, he was out a couple weeks. Ludwick has been unreal thus far, too.

 And the Cards aren't? They've been playing above expectations too.
