Let's WIN each series, at least. In honesty, I see 7 wins out of the 9 games. 2 of 3 from Detroit, sweep Colorado, 2 of 3 from Pittsburgh.

At the worst, they should win 5 of the next 9. Hopefully the bats don't go into sleepy time for a extended period of time.

Gotta keep cleaning up with these weak teams.

9 games. Minimum. Maybe 10.

I foresee 7 wins, one sweep and two two of threes
Maybe Pittsburgh is terrible against 'Chicago' teams not just the flubs

We usually don't win more than 8 in a row. We probably won't go undefeated, but one can always hope.

6, maybe 7. we're on a tear...but tears have to stop or atleast slow sooner or later.

but on a brighter note!

Yeah, I guess I'd be fine with a 16 game winning streak... :D:

Realistically, these are all teams we could sweep. Detroit is in shambles right now, Colorado is struggling in a way no one thought after last year's success (and are devastated by injuries, of course), and Pittsburgh is the NL's Kansas City.

Here are the matchups. For the latter two, I just assumed each team would keep the rotation in turn.

@ Tigers:
Contreras vs. Robertson
Vazquez vs. Verlander
Buehrle vs. Rogers

I don't see any of these as real problems as long as our guys pitch like they have been as of late, namely Buehrle. Should be a sweep.

Rockies:
Floyd vs. Francis (5.45 ERA, 1.55 WHIP)
Danks vs. ?????
Contreras vs. Cook (3.16 ERA, 1.21 WHIP)

The Rockies have been going with a 4-man rotation, but will have to sport start someone on Saturday. That 2nd game could be either a Jorge De La Rosa-Jason Grilli tandem, or Mark Redman. Either way... I think we'll be alright. The last game should be a thriller. A sweep all depends on that last game, but 2 out of 3 seems extremely probable.

Pirates:
Vazquez vs. Snell (5.65 ERA, 1.80 WHIP)
Buehrle vs. Gorzelanny (6.83 ERA, 1.79 WHIP)
Floyd vs. Dumatrait (3.44 ERA, 1.41 WHIP)

Snell and Gorzelanny have been absolute messes... should win both of those. Dumatrait, however, will be tougher. He's given up 2 ER or less in his last 4 starts. That last game could potentially be trouble, but again, 2 of 3 is very likely.

---------------

So, just based on the matchups alone, we matchup favorably in 7 of the 9 games and about evenly with the aforementioned Cook and Dumatrait. I went with a cautious 7, but man, what I'd give to see us roll into Wrigley as winners of 16 straight!!!

This next 6 game stretch could prove fatal to the Twins (@ Cleveland and @ a Milwaukee team beginning to catch fire)... let's see that division lead build to 10!!!

:)

EDIT: You know, now that I think about it... I may have overanalyzed just a bit. :redneck

Win all three series - 6 out of 9.

Of course, sweeping the Kitties would be better...then winning 4 out of 6. :D:

Realistically, the Sox will lose one or two games in the next week and a half. Even really bad teams will win a game or two here and there, and at a seven game win streak already; the Sox probably will lose once or twice.

I think it might happen in Detroit, as its a team that while struggling, still has a lot of talent.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves, just win today. Then worry about tommorrow.

Hopefully we'll still be on a big-time roll going into the all-important Cubs series.

But I'm not discounting Detroit like some of you guys. This is a huge series for them, possibly of their season and they'll be tough to beat. But it seems we have their number in Detroit. I hope Ozzie and the guys know how much they'll be up for this one.

I go for the series wins. Any sweeps are icing on the cake.

Detroit looked pretty bad on ESPN last night, so that should be a good series for the Sox.

6-3.

As long as the Sox go at least 9-9 the next 18, they'll be in good shape going into July.

To me, that is the WORST case scenario if we continue to play the way we have on the home-stand.

Despite their high ERA's Detroit's starters have a 3.02 ERA in their last 13 games going into last nite so I think this will be a tough series for the sox.
I say the up against the wall tigers will take 2 of 3.
Sox should take 2 of 3 against the Rockies
The Bucs are only one game under .500 and playing decent ball.
I say Sox take 2 of 3 again.

5-4 is my prediction...hope for better but I will take it.

Winning 6 out of these 9 games is very realistic IMO. Colorado has no pitching whatsoever, Aaron Cook is the only guy who's actually decent. We all know what Detroit has in the bag. Two of the Pirates' starters have WHIPs near 2.

The few Cubs games I've caught this year have mostly been against PIT. Holy crap-ola is that team horrible. Like embarassing horrible. I honestly wouldn't be happy with anything but a sweep against them.

Rockies? Yeah- 2/3.

Detroit, probably 2/3 also, but a sweep would be huge. Pushing the dagger in, inch by inch.

I have very high expectation for these next three serieseseseses. :)

For everyone overlooking the Pirates, they are 2-9 against the Cubs and 29-23 against the rest of the league.

And I don't even think I'm exaggerating when I say that 5 or 6 (maybe 4) of those games against the Cubs have gone into extra innings.

The Pirates aren't a bad team, but for the record, are they better than the Twins? Their starting pitching sucks outside of Zach Duke and Paul Maholm. Their bullpen is mediocre outside of Matt Capps. Their offense has Nate McLouth, Jason Bay, and Xavier Nady, and is the only reason why they're even winning. If the Cubs rotation can shut their asses down and beat them into submission, why can't we?

Let's change things up here (though I think the Twins are indeed better than the Pirates)...

If you put it that way, then it means we should sweep them. Because the Pirates are worse than the Twins (even you kind of said it) and the series is at home, where we are 20-9.

And if it wasn't for Gomez, Mauer, and Morneau, the Twins would be 10 games below .500 right now.

I'll say 16-15 to the break. 53-41.

Det 1-2
Col 2-1
Pit 3-0
Chi 1-2
LA 1-2
Chi 2-1
Cle 1-2
Oak 2-2
KC 2-1
Tex 1-2

I'm getting a little worried about this Det series. Don't want them to get too cocky and have a big let-down.

We face two left-handed pitchers in this series, so it will be tough. The only starter to contain our offense on the homestand was Perkins, a left-hander. As soon as the Twins brought their mediocre right-handed middle relief in, the Sox started raking again.

For the record, I think we'll win six out of the next nine. But my main worry is just winning the game tonight. I'm not the sort of fan who has euphoric highs when my team goes on a winning streak. I'm always thinking and worrying about the next opponent.

I will let the players take it one game at a time. We can look forward all we want.
I say 2/3 from detroit, the final game with Rogers is up in the air to me.
Rockies are horrible and we just went 7-0 on the home stand so Ill say sweep, but Cook might be tough in the last game. I believe Matt Holliday is back, but the game is not in Coors.
Should take at least 2/3 from Pirates as well. Our pitching shuts down their lineup it is over, because there is no way their pitching staff shuts the Sox down.

7 or 8 games is my prediction.

One game at a time, my friends.

The DET series is the real killer for me. Kenny Rogers has been pitching better, and you know he always gives the Sox fits when he is on. You'd like to think Verlander is due a good game against the Sox, right? We will see how that plays out.

They should go at the very least 4-2 against COL and PIT.

Let's shoot for 5-7 wins. I'm not completely sold on this offensive outburst just yet.

Procol Harum

I also voted for 6-7 but if we can get it together this could be a chance to make hay while that ol' sun is shinin'. The Pirates have been the Flubs' best friend all year so here's hopin' they prove just as accomodating to the Sox. The Rockies are bruuuu-tull and should be prime for at least 2 of 3.

But, of the three series putting it to the Tigers would obviously be the most desirable to pull a sweeparoo--it'd be real nice to kick them while they're down w/ Bonderman out and Willis on the skids, and send them into the coup de grace Central Division death spiral for the rest of '08.

No, but I admit I don't try to make rational decisions about individual game outcomes. Ask me who will win, I answer "The Sox" everytime. Stick up a poll asking how many wins the Sox will have between now and 10/1 I will answer "all of them" because it doesn't matter that much to me if I'm wrong and because I'm just a fan of the team. Predicting losses is for losers...
