A bad night for shoota, TimberTroll and Loaiza.

A mediocre night for Vazquez.

A good night for Sox hitters, Linebrink and Sox fans otherwise.

Discuss.

Nice catch by Dye.

I love how the Twins got a ton of hits and couldn't get the runners in. Normally they execute there and kill us, but the defense and pitching was there to end it when they threatened.

Great offense tonight also.

Great game for the Sox from what I saw, though with my MLB.TV going in and out all game I didn't see much of it. Good to see the offense getting it done again, hopefully the warm weather does heat up some of the struggling bats. It would have been nice to have Thome and Swisher get it going, but thats about as much complaining about a 10 run output that you're gonna get from me.

Just a note to those who use MLB.TV, I called customer service and after being very persistent and complaining quite a lot, I managed to get 15% off in the MLB shop. When they told me this, I asked if it could be used for an MLB.TV subscription next season, the very nice lady who got stuck dealing with me said that yes, it can be applied to next year's subscription. So despite not being able to watch much of this game, something positive came out of it aside from a Sox win.

Lets go Sox, sweep the twinkies and run away with the division!!!

SOX WIN!!!:):):)

shoota was/is a WSI member who hated Joe Crede and actually even proposed altering Crede's stats to not give him credit for homers he hit when the Sox already had a lead, or if the Sox were trailing and the homer didn't tie the game or give the Sox the lead. The hatred was way beyond obsession.

TimberTroll is really Timberwolf, who before each Sox-Twins series, re-registers with a different screen name just to troll and spew venom about how he/she thinks the Sox and Chicago are terrible and the Twins will win.

Just got back from the game. A few ruminations:

I think Loaiza was just getting a bunch of cobwebs out of his arm. He will be ready when he's called upon the next time. This will not be the norm for him.
TCQ is our savior.
Crede's starting to approach the plate more confidently, and it's really showing.
That catch by Dye to end the game was phenomenal! If he doesn't catch that, the tying run comes to the plate, and then Jenks would've had to be used. Great job by Dye!
Like Crede, Konerko's slowly starting to get a little life back, only on a different scale.
This was the best offensive production of the season.
The firework show was awesome after the game.
I got a chance to talk with Soxman and Batman on the way down the tunnels and out of the stadium.
Did I mention that TCQ is our savior?

The league looks to be adjusting to Carlos, consistently going outside corner on him since he was jacking everything middle in into the LF seats. Now he is adjusting and taking a lot up the middle and to RF. It's amazing the power he has.....

I just got back from the game, and it was a great experience tonight. How we came back after being down 3-0 was awesome. Outside of stuff probably already posted here, I noticed a couple of odd things tonight at the ballpark. First of all, something big was happening in Section 106 during the latter portion of our big 5th inning. I was in Section 151, and everyone in the ballpark was focused on the action in 106.

Also, for those of you who were also there tonight, did you notice the plane that flew over the ballpark right after Dye homered? The fireworks went off in left-center field, and almost at the same time the plane flew over the park coming from right-center field. Both the plane and fireworks were at very similar heights, shall we say. Let's just say the plane didn't come in over left field, or it would have been interesting.

My apologies to him if his outing was decent but I really don't think we have that much room for an ineffective pitcher - so I hope he warms up quickly. Wasserman hadn't been used much lately in key situations lately because he had pitched poorly - not because that isn't his role. And the last man in the pen needs to be able to minimize damage and keep you in the game. Guillen uses his bullpen, so he'll be back in action soon enough.

He made one mistake (HR) other than that he induced 3 outs (with one being an error). He had a very long lay off from pitching in a real game...to blame him for being a little rusty is ridiculous.

I agree with your synopsis on Loaiza. He wasn't as awful as some have said. The HR probably gets caught at the track on a cooler night when the wind isn't howling. Other than that pitch, he didn't look too bad. I will say that the velocity wasn't quite the Esteban that I remember. He was hitting the mid 80s for his breaking pitches and high 80s for his hard stuff. However, it was his 1st game in a while. We'll just have to see how it goes with him. As long as he gets outs and eats innings, I don't really care how hard he is throwing.

Lost in all the home run heroics is some amazing defense the Sox have been featuring. I'm extremely excited by the defensive strength up the middle we have in our infield now. Cabrera and Ramirez are putting on a defensive clinic lately and it definitely helps out already good pitching staff. Ramirez looks like he has played 2B all his life and Cabrera is flashing that gold glove we heard so much about in Anaheim. It's been fun to watch.

Tomorrow will be a tough one with Livan going for the Twins. Hopefully Buehrle can keep this one close and we can manufacture some runs and make it 5 straight.

It's great that we can laugh about this now, especially with Cabrera playing out of his mind lately both on offense and defense. The Crede errors are indeed puzzling though. I attribute it to all the time he missed last year. Perhaps he is a bit rusty? 12 errors already is a ton for Joe. I'm not being a dark cloud, just making an observation. To put a frame of reference on it, Joe had 12 errors for the entire '04 season, 10 for the entire '05 season, and 10 for the entire '06 season. This will definitely be a career worst number of errors for him. However, he is on pace to match his '06 career high of 30HRs which is great.

We did not strike out tonight. Good things happen when you put the ball in play.

The Sox didn't take a lot of pitches as they normally do. At one point, they scored six runs on eight pitches, which must have been a thrill for people at the ballpark. They didn't wear Blackburn down by taking good pitches. They didn't need to, even if they did make Blackburn look like Cy Young for two innings.

The Sox have an opportunity to build a big division lead this weekend, just as they distanced themselves from the Indians came to town.

An honorable mention has to be given to Konerko for grabbing Harris' wicked liner in the third inning. He took extra bases away from Harris with that play, helping them not give up as many runs, changing the complexion of the game!

I might add that, glancing at a Twins board, it appears as if Twins fans are beyond nervous that Livan's starting tomorrow night. I wonder why?! He is 6-2 even though his ERA isn't the greatest.

After a great start, Hernandez has been trending back to where most thought he would be --- a 5+ ERA. I believe it's around 4.80 right now. On the post-game show, they said his BAA is .339. Beltin' Bill expects the Sox to knock him around, as do I. There's certainly no reason he should get past 5 innings, due to the runs scored / pitch count. I just hope the good Mark shows up tonight.

The interesting aspect to the 20 of 30 "pace" is who they have beaten and who they have lost to since that 0-6 dome roadtrip.

In that span, the Sox have lost once to the Twins and once to the Indians. They lost four times to the Angels and three times to the Rays. They also lost once to the Mariners. Winning two of three in Seattle, three straight in San Francisco, two of three in Cleveland and sweeps at home of Cleveland and Kansas City in addition to two of three at home against the Twins in May, the Sox have been doing their real damage within the division. They handed the Tigers pretty well at the beginning of the season, and the Twins are the only Central team they haven't dominated at this point.

With the unbalanced schedule, playing well against the Central is huge.

I just beat the Twins 7-1 in MLB 08 The Show.

Buehrle went the entire way, 7 hits, 1 ER, 3 Ks.

Swisher, Thome, Dye all homer. Livan gets chased in the 6th :D:.

Let's hope this is true!

Did anyone else at the game last night notice that the wind ripped two entire sides of the divisional champions banner hanging from the rafter? I thought to myself that that's a great sign from above that we'll have to replace that thing after this season!

Rain is coming! And if we do get this one in, it will be real humid and windy as well.

Turner says "rain is coming..."

And this is a surprise exactly how? The Sox are home remember? Crappy weather always seems to follow.

Doesn't look like TheOldRoman has weighed in yet on tonight's win. :D:Yeah, sorry about that. I got home late, didn't see the game. Fire Walker. And anyone praising Walker for the last four games while overlooking the last two years is a moron. We have seen this before. They score runs in bunches, and then they suck for extended periods of time. We need more then 4 games in which to deem that Walker has turned things around.

The Sox have now won 20 of their last 30 games. That "pace" will certainly get it done.

LipLip, I like you a lot better when you don't have things to complain about.:D:
