While at the game last night, I noticed a message on the LF scoreboard that said "United Airlines presents White Sox vs. Cubs - Sunday, June 29th @ 7:05pm"

I know the Sunday, June 22nd game at the Urinal is scheduled for a 7:05pm start.

Could Chicago host ESPN Sunday Night Baseball on back-to-back weeks?

I know there have been talks about making our Sunday home game a 7:05pm start as well, but to date I hadn't heard anything official about it (Sox website still shows TBD)

I haven't heard anything about it; but, if it was on a sign at the ballpark, I'd think that would be accurate. The ballpark can't falslely advertise something.

That would make a lot of sense right now. Bitter rivalry between fanbases, major market, both teams in first (hopefully one of those two will start to tank by then [you know which one I mean]) and not much in the way of competition for hype or audience on 6/29 with the possible exception of Dodgers/Angels:

If that's the case, then good. We get to see the Sox embrass them two weeks in a row on national TV.

Sweet, I should be able to watch 2 games while I'm on vacation, then.

I asked my season ticket rep if the time is final for the Sunday Sox Cubs game at US Cellular. He sais ESPN has the option to change up to 10 days before the game so it wont be official until about June 19. He did say that if both teams are leading their divisions it will be likely that the game would be picked up by ESPN.

More national attention on ESPN = good.

If you guys have paid attention to the ESPN power rankings, we're ranked #3 right now behind the Cubs and Phillies. Since when were we so respected?

Did you guys know that baseball is also played outside of New York and Boston?

Anyway, it's nice to see that ESPN is recognizing that the Crosstown series is more heated than the Mets/Yankees. How far in to the telecast before we see this

per mlb tv contract with espn and tbs its actually 3 weeks before the game, not 10 days. 10-12 days in july-september

Maybe it's just me, because this is a nightmare that I have sometimes, but are there 2 Steve Phillips in that photo?

Maybe there are two Steve Phillips' that both share 1 brain. Hence explaining why Steve Phillips sounds like he has half a brain.

I did notice that too but wasn't sure. I didn't want to sound like "all white people look alike to me"

EDIT: OK upon further review it is indeed TWO Steve Phillips. It was from a Baseball Tonight segment called "Point-Counter Point" where Steve argues with himself.

Steve Phillips arguing with himself? Seriously? Sounds like the definition of torture to me.

I don't think we deserve that much respect. #3 seems too high to me.

Really, there should be a city ordinance forbidding Sunday night baseball in Chicago.

I'm flying back to California from Chicago on the Sox-in-Wrigley Sunday night, so wouldn't be able to see the game even if I got ESPN. It's not like I had tickets to an afternoon game -- I wouldn't go to Wrigley Field. Regardless, even if I got ESPN, baseball on Sunday night would be wrong.

Any night having to watch the Sox and listen to Joe Morgan is bad. XM and ESPN aren't even close to being sync'd so that's not an option. :(:

And the Sunday night feed on XM is ESPN with Gary Thorne....

They stole that bit from The Colbert Report. I think.

Anyway, it's not all about the east coast. They're clearly talking about Bonds in that photo.

Couldn't agree more! :D:

BTW, Chicken; I was thinking of trying to pull together some kind of WSI-Ariz. gathering for one of the Sox/Cubs games at Skip and Jan's in Tempe (our hangout during the 2005 WS). AzChiSoxFan and Markopat have both expressed an interest in a gathering.

But I guess we'll have to wait and see what that schedule looks like. If it's a Sunday night game on ESPN, we might be better served waiting for another occasion.

The good thing about these upcoming sets is that if the Cubs rotation holds, we'll avoid Carlos Zambrano in both series.
