The Boston Herald reported that the left wrist is immobilized and that he may require season-ending surgery.

Same here! :(

Casey Blake certainly made up for that though tonight: 3/4, 2 HR, 7 RBIs (AND Texas came back to tie them!)

ESPN reported that Oritz has been placed on the 15-day DL and is expected to miss a month. It is a partial tear of tendon sheath in wrist, whatever that is.

Great. ESPN might make a reality mini-sries out of the surgery and rehab.

I'll have to pick a first baseman as a free agent. That first baseman is Lyle Overbay.

This post doesn't have anything to do with hating all things Boston or impacts on fantasy teams. Get with it, skot (if that is even your real name).

I have no idea how ESPN is going to have the time to keep up with up-to-date info on David's injury and Joba's first start.

Look for a new split screen format, I guess.

I saw it when I flipped past ESPN news. They were talking about Joba Chamberlin starting (I guess that's big news) and then went into breaking news that David Ortiz was going on the DL. Then they went into a piece about the Red Sox, then a story about the Yankees, then a story about the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry. Then I threw up.

"Tonight the nation mourns as David Ortiz has been tragically placed on the DL! The President will be flying to Boston as he will console the people of Boston in these trying times. We can only hope that he can lift their spirits. Tonight we will not be covering the other teams in MLB but instead will make tonight's show a tribute to David Ortiz. But first let's have a moment of silence and pray for his quick recovery"

Imagine having to hear it from Pa Pinstripe, John Sterling, when the Roided one will hit a ball caught on the warning track. "It is high, it is far..! It is...caught in the grass!"
