Birmingham won 5-4:
Cassel 6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 3.90 ERA (Gave up Matt LaPorta's 12th HR)
Hernandez (W) 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 5.84 ERA
Lujan (S) 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 4.08 ERA
Mercedes 3/4, 1 2B, 3 RBI, .252
Cook 0/2, 3 BB, 2 R, .304

W/S won 7-6:
Brooks (W) 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 5.79 ERA in relief.
Texeira (S) 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, 1.65 ERA

Orlando 2/5, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, .239
Allen 2/5, 1 R, 1 RBI, .298
Paiml 2/4, 1 3B, 2 R, 2 K, .176

Does anyone know why Paiml was promoted from KAN to WSW? He hit .238/.260/.499 and a 37/5 K/BB ratio with Kannapolis; why rush him to High-A after that atrocious line?

As an aside, Dave Van Dyck mentioned in an article (in a negative connotation) that John Ely was 1-5 while Aaron Poreda was having a stellar year. Might I remind everyone that w/l means absolutely nothing; in 52.2 IP, John Ely has 50 K/12 BB, only 1 HR given up and a 3.63 ERA. Not too shabby.
