Cinci just dropped a 3 spot on Cleveland in the bottom of the 9th to win the game 4-2 so as I type the Sox are tied for first...

I was watching this game and the announcers were incredibly smug and said that Adam Dunn should bunt if they wanted to win the game. Cue Dunn hitting one out.

The way I look at it is they play the Reds six times. We play the Cubs six times. It's an obvious disadvantage on paper. So with these two losses to the Reds, the Indians aren't doing themselves any favors.

The Sox need to take advantage.

How can playing the flubbies 6 times ever be considered a disadvantage? :dunno:

I acknowledge the Cubs offense as being damn good.

Last year kinda sucked too.

If the Sox can roll over the Giants, Pirates, and Rockies, it'll make the nine games with the Cubs and Dodgers at the end of June a little less stressful.

A 12-6 interleague record could go a long way at the end of the season.

The scheduling quirk that annoys me is Tampa. For years, we got basically 7 games with the Devil Rays. The one year that they are good, we get them extra times.
In 2005, it seemed like Cleveland played no one but us, The Devil Rays and the Royals in September.

Those fox announcers don't know ****. They were smug about someone laying down a bunt in the Sawks/Brewcrew game with a man on 2nd and 1 out. Granted it was the 5 hole, but the boston corners are generally slow and it could have been a way to pump up a rally.

The flubs offense is pretty good, but I don't know about their pitching.

Further evidence that Dusty Baker is the worst manager in baseball.

Yep. Before the homer, there was a bunt attempt.

They do have a 3.76 ERA, so it's not THAT bad.

Dusty Baker at his finest. Bunt with a slugger, but hit with Neifi Perez. CLASSIC!

He did it in the same spot with Edwin earlier in the year. It was the same result (walk off home run).

Even in the years the Cubs are bad, they get up for the Crosstown series.

It's a bigger series with more bragging rights on the line than say Reds/Indians or Twins/Brewers or Tigers/whoever the hell their "natural rival" is.
