Francona is bringing Leyland, Girardi, and the Red Sox staff. Hurdle is bringing Randolph, Black, and the Rockies staff.

To me I like the fact the World Series Managers represent their league in the all star game as the manager. I think the previous seasons division winning managers should be invited as base coaches.

Ozzie has been invited how many times now since being manager?

I don't think too many other managers like him, if it's the manager who selects his coaches.

So is inviting Leyland just charity? Apparently they are not going off of '08 performances. It'd be neat to see them invite the TB coach for the job he's doing this year.

Who cares? All that matters is that he was manager of the AS team in 2006. Here's hoping for several more.

I don't think Willie Randolph will be wearing a teams jersey come the ASG.

It is very important to me that other managers around the league like Ozzie.

If the Mets keep playing like they have been, he'll be gone by the middle of June.

:?:

I don't get it. It has nothing to do with the season you're having. Otherwise we wouldn't see Leyland and Girardi, who are both doing terrible jobs with their respective teams. Maddon should be there, if you ask me.

BTW, do they always do this so early? I always thought it wasn't until June that they picked their coaching staff.

It's all politics. It has nothing to do with who likes who or who hates each other. Francona is most likely pressured to bring on guys like Leyland and Girardi.

I'm guessing Girardi was picked because it's at Yankee Stadium. When Francona managed the ASG in 2005 at Comerica Park he picked Trammell.

I think the host team's manager is always selected. Manuel was a coach in 2003 and got booed.
