Has anyone been down to Charlotte this year to see Broadway pitch? I'm interested to know if he's been using that 2-seamer as frequently as he had been during his brief call-up. That game against the Royals his 2-seamer looked sick.

Charlotte won game 1 of the DH 4-1 in 7:
Broadway (W): 7.0 IP ("CG"), 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 1.13 ERA
Owens 2/4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 CS (4), .245
Bourgeois 2/3, 1 R, .228
Wise 1/3, 1 3B, .339
Getz 1/3, 1 R, .271

Charlotte lost game 2 of the DH 5-3:
Bell 5.0 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 9.00 ERA ... Casey Fossum pitched for Toledo, FYI.
Eldred 3/3, 1 2B, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, .283/.346/.633 (.979 OPS)
I'm thinking Eldred is the first guy called up if Thome or Konerko get hurt now that Fields is down. Eldred was at RF today as well.

B'ham won 7-2:
Richard (W) 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 0 K, 2.87 ERA
Bullpen (Torres, Babula, Lujan) combined 3.0 IP, 2 H, 5 K, 0 R
Cook 1/2, 1 HR, 2 BB, 2 R, .290 (1.016 OPS)

W/S won 4-3:
John Ely (W) 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 5 K, 0 BB, 3.51 ERA
Rote (H) 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 0 R, 1.15 ERA
Texeira (S) 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1.46 ERA
W/S 5 SB, 0 CS today.
Orlando 2/3, 1 R, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 SB, .226
Shelby 1/4, 1 RBI, 1 R, .318 (.887 OPS)

Kanny was 2-hit and lost 6-1:
Jones (L) 3.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 6 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 7.11 ERA
Gaines and Marrero with the only hits, Marrero's an RBI triple.

I don't know much about Eldred, but I was looking up his stats yesterday and I was impressed. I see that the Sox picked him up last year somehow, and his stats last year in AAA were not very good. Is he someone who always was perceived as having talent but could never put it together? Or is he possibly a late developer?

He's one of the best bats the Sox have in Charlotte, if not the best. Unfortunately, the Sox don't have a place for him right now.

He missed almost all of the 2006 season after breaking his thumb, and suffering severe ligament damage. Perhaps he was a little slow recovering last year, as a result. If you look at his stats prior to that they were very impressive.
He is only 27, turning 28 this summer. Another good option if Thome, or Konerko should get hurt, or traded, or not resigned.

I saw him a lot in spring training and he reminded me a lot of a poor man's Richie Sexson: all or nothing.

Yep. He's been compared to Joe Borchard in that respect as well, but you never know. Maybe he's turned it around. :?:
