From the ESPN wrap-up of tonights game:

Gary Glover pitched a scoreless eighth for his first save.

Is that right? Glover got the save in a 7 run game?

Yes, Glover entered the game with the lead at just 2. The save is decided by the score when the releiver enters the ballgame, not the final score. Typically the home team wouldn't get another at bat before the game ends in a save situation for a home reliever but the rainout cancelled top nine.

A save is one of 2 situations.

1. You team is leading by 3 or less runs when you come in.

2. The Pitcher pitches the last 3 innings of the game no matter what the score. (so it could be 21 - 1, but if he pitches all of the 7th,8th, and 9th, he gets a Save.)
