Twins' Guzman to have MRI on sore knee

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota shortstop Cristian Guzman, the latest Twins player to miss a game because of injury, has irritation in his left kneecap and will have an MRI test done Tuesday.

Guzman, who missed more than a month last year with an inflamed shoulder, has been bothered by soreness in the knee for most of the season but played through it for the most part. The Twins will decide whether or not Guzman should go on the disabled list after the test results are back.

Minnesota is already thin in the middle infield because second baseman Luis Rivas is making a slow recovery from a broken bone in his left wrist sustained in the second game of the season.

Right-hander Joe Mays (inflammation in his right elbow) and designated hitter David Ortiz (bone chip in his left knee) are also on the DL. Mays is making a slow recovery and is out indefinitely, and Ortiz will miss another 2-to-4 weeks.

The health problems spread to minors, too -- right fielder Michael Cuddyer, one of the organization's top prospects, was put on the disabled list at Triple-A Edmonton with a strained right oblique muscle.

I DO NOT FEAR THE TWINS!
