Not sure how many people care, but I, for one, am very excited about him. He won't start a rehab assignment until at least the third week of May. They're bringing him along very slowly to make sure he's fine when he is ready to go.

Great news; with Alexi Ramirez out Juan Uribe has no backup at second base.

Ramirez is only missing the Toronto series. And it's not like he's a great option. His defense is not better than Uribe's and he can't even hit for Uribe's stinking average. Ramirez needs to go to Charlotte to play every day. He's just wasting away. He needs to get some at bats and get ready for next year.

They can bring up Getz to backup Uribe.

My point is that Ramirez is better than Ozuna defensively. Uribe is not hitting well but Ozuna is not hitting and with him in the game the defense at second base suffers.

If Getz is the guy then bring him up.

Agreed. I think there is a good chance Ramirez will get sent down once Richar is healthy. I don't think we'd be losing much in the OF either...I'm very comfortable with Anderson as a 4th OF and I think a 5th is superfluous unless there is an injury.

Richar's defense looked very good in his stint last year, and I think the organization wants to give him every opportunity to take the 2B job. I really think the only reason Uribe is still starting is due to his defense and a real lack of better options. If Richar does okay in his first few weeks up, I could really see him gradually increasing his playing time to the point where Uribe is supplanted as the every day starter.

I hope so too. I think Ramirez has good potential but is better suited honing his skills in the minors before he gets full swing into the bigs.

They were trying to cut Uribe prior to finding out Richar was injured. Unless he goes on a major tear offensively in the next 5 weeks, they just might do it anyway. IF defensive specialist isn't a position most teams bother with. Uribe would strictly be a defensive replacement late in games. He wouldn't be a PH or PR ever, so why bother keeping him?

They can bring up Getz and shoot Uribe.

Fixed it for ya.

If Uribe keeps playing like this, he will be doing the backing up.

It's been Juan's job to lose and he's playing himself out of it. His hitting has been atrocious.
